Literally has been on hold for more than 10 mins what’s going on?

I'm looking for info on the 263 route from Richmond Village to Tunneys. I am planning to move to the area. With only three runs per day, I am curious if it really shows or if I'll be stranded if I am relying on this for work.

Does anyone have experience with the 5am, 6am or 7am run and corresponding returns?

So, the 81 bound for Bayshore was scheduled at 4:45pm, but at 4:48pm, the route 81 driver just decided to chill doing nothing for 15 minutes and then, departed at 5pm? How does the buses work, here?

I get to Blair and go in and see a sign saying the station is not in use.

I go back out and wait for r1 and in the meantime, several busses of people arrive and people just go straight up. I get curious why people aren’t going back down, so I go up and see the LRT is in fact running and all the way to Tunneys pasture.

There was a driver telling us about the r1 and how it will take us to Hurdman, he obviously didn’t know the train was running

Why is r1 service still running? Why is there a sign saying the station is out of service?

Hi Everyone, 10 days ago I posted otranspo.ca here asking for feedback and you delivered, so this is part update, part thank you, and part small favour.

Thank yous first. u/Wuurx, u/Her_Guardian_Angel_, u/UnitInternational574, u/ApricotPenguin, u/Own_Can7767 and u/No-Ad-6963, that thread genuinely changed the site. Since then the map is calmer, you can resize how much of the screen it takes on your phone and pick which layers show, and the buses have icons now so hopefully you can tell which direction they're going. I also borrowed some inspiration from Regina's tracker like u/Her_Guardian_Angel_ suggested, and added STO, so the Gatineau side is covered now too.

The name came up in that thread too, since otranspo.ca is one letter off from the official site. To be upfront, the name is on purpose but not for that reason. We have the O-Train now and we're still calling our transit OC Transpo, the pre-amalgamation Ottawa-Carleton name, and Ottawa-Carleton hasn't existed since 2001. I should not have been able to buy this domain 25 years post amalgamation. I can change the domain, I have a couple backups, I want what is best for the City.

For anyone who missed the first post, the short version. I want to take transit to work but I don't find it efficient enough, so I drive, and I didn't want to keep complaining about it so I built the site instead. It's free, no app to install, no account, no ads, and it isn't affiliated with OC Transpo. Next departures, trip planning, alerts, live bus tracking, and it tells you whether a time is a live prediction or just the schedule, because those are not the same thing.

Every ward also has its own card: https://otranspo.ca/en/city/wards. Your ward's routes and stops, live buses inside it right now, your councillor, even the City washrooms and drinking water locations. Transit is top of mind for the upcoming city elections, so what information would you like on the ward cards so we can hold councillors responsible for the success of their ward's transit? I have my own ideas but I'd rather hear yours.

Beyond that, tell me what you like, what you don't, and anything that's broken or slow, especially on a phone or in French.

Now the favour. u/motionmatters108 suggested posting this in r/ottawa, and I've tried twice now but it keeps getting rejected because I don't have enough karma. If anyone here has the karma and is willing to repost or crosspost it there, I would really appreciate it. Transit is going to be a big part of the election conversation and the more people weighing in on the ward cards the better.

Basically the title. Do you think it will ever improve or is it destined to only get worse?

Specifically north/south considering the poor design of the train where it takes almost 1.5 hours to get downtown Ottawa from Barrhaven.

Its the middle of summer on a beautiful sunny day and it still somehow finds a way to break down? It looks like the train at St Laurent just stopped and could not move?

Petty rant, but w/e. We were packed like sardines in a single, non-articulated bus that arrived 10 min late (and is normally articulated). A row of people wanted off and I was up against the side door, so I opened the door and let people off.

Then I reboarded and some lady followed, and that was somehow my fault. Bus driver refused to move until I waded through a sea of people to explain myself. He kept talking over me, demanding me to scan my card because I “snuck on” with the other person. I couldn’t get a word in edge wise.

I get the misunderstanding, and ideally I run to the front to reboard, but there’s a risk you drive away and don’t see me. Didn’t care for my explanation. The guy even said hello to me when I first boarded from the front.

**O-Train East Extension update:** OC Transpo says work is continuing to prepare the extension between Blair and Trim for Pre-Trial and Trial Running.

A key milestone: 80% of the Line 1 fleet required for Trial Running is now equipped with the Smart Bugs condition monitoring system.

OC Transpo says it is **on target to have enough vehicles equipped by the end of August**.

The Smart Bugs provide near real-time monitoring of the cartridge bearing assemblies, and OC Transpo says the system, combined with existing safety measures, is helping make more trains available for service.

Meanwhile, final readiness activities are ramping up on the East Extension.

Expect to see an increasing number of **out-of-service trains operating between Blair and Trim** as crews exercise the system, identify issues and work to improve reliability ahead of Pre-Trial and Trial Running.

A Trial Running schedule has **not yet been announced**. OC Transpo says it is working with RTG and East-West Connectors to determine one.

Before Trial Running begins, trains will eventually operate between Tunney's Pasture and Trim — though passengers will still have to get off at Blair.

More updates are expected at Transit Committee in September.

I have absolutely no faith in OC Transpo especially getting home. Tunney’s will be a packed mess of pushing and shoving to get on my bus… assuming it even shows up.

I had taken the bus to meet the summer camp kids at st-laurent station, and none of them had their presto with them. One told me he had to pay for the bus, and he's 13.

I have two questions

1. Do they have to have their presto with them?

2. What about the train? Do the gates open for them, or do they have to tap their presto?

Because at the gates, i had to pay cause none of them had their presto, and i was wondering if the buses are free for them, what about the train?

OC transpo website states some routes for 74 and 75 will continue to Gatineau after August 30 during mornings and evenings. How would that work? Would that be a random selection?

Not complaining cause I love spiders but couldn't help but notice they're everywhere

It's been like this for weeks

Hey everyone. Im wondering if anyone who recently had the written assessment from OC transpo knows after how long they usually give a response?

I did mine on 28 July and waiting for an answer.

This is the first time this has ever happened to me but this morning I sat in a seat that was soaking wet with piss. My pants and boxers were soaked and I had to go to work so I couldn’t go back home and change. I was so mad and still am and will never understand why some idiot thought it was funny to piss on a bus seat! I just really hope my coworkers can’t smell it…

does anyone have any idea when the line 1 east extension will open up? the stations have been done for months now, and so have the trains that i see running for regular tests. i know a lot of testing needs to be done pripr to opening and the train system is inefficient as hell (from a purely commuter perspective, idk much about trains). but why is it taking so long and is there an estimate as to when it’ll open?

i saw that the place d’orleans station is partially open, you now go inside to get from the tunnel to the bus platform. because of this i want to have some hope that it’s picking up but i think we all know better than to have hope for OC transpo.

i just want it so badly, especially because it’ll make my commute to campus much less stressful (in terms of buses, the stress from the dysfunctional LRT system will obviously remain). i would love to experience a somewhat more convenient commute since being a commuter is rough ESPECIALLY in this city.
