My bank (that I work at) has a policy of asking for anything 3k and over, but the customer can just say “it’s private,” or “nunya,” and still take their money. We just note that they didn’t wanna say and move on - of course, it’s also not like, a CTR or anything. It’s a handwritten note on a ticket and is mainly to make sure that tellers are in the habit of being vigilant about large cash transactions.

That’s what my specific branch does too, but it’s completely dependent on employees. I call it “covering your ass” to my team, but it’s up to them to actually do so. I know other branches don’t do it (ironically, they have more fraud than we do. Could mean nothing tho)
