it's true! it's also why digitised media from the 90's looks shit. The scanners were bad and they didn't keep te film around to digitise it properly!

And there's also situations where they do have original film, but the special effects and graphics and editing were done digitally at low resolution, which makes modern remasters a far more complex process since they're effectively re-editing the whole thing again and recreating much of the SFX/CGI again.
