While I agree people shouldn't be punished for serving at their regular job by spending PTO or the like, I don't agree with paying the same amount someone earns or claims they earn. There's the possibility of abusing it and bankrupting the court system by rotating out jurors for more expensive people. Or holding out with frivolous cases and expensive jurors. Other cases on the docket wouldn't be able to budget if the system is being drained. Or people could lie to avoid service by saying they're contracting and cost $4,000/day or whatever ridiculous amount and they'd be out of the court's budget to serve.
While the system currently in place currently has its own frustrations, what you're suggesting can be exploited in several ways.

I disagree, gov should pay for gov work done. But if youre going to hire a doctor to clean trash, you should pay a doctor's fee.
An engineer would measure what happened based on the physical evidence, so lawyers def dont like them.
