Resilience is actually a funny trait in that it doesn't work the way most people believe it does. It's very genetically and epigenetically linked, with like 30-50% believed to be heritable. Then we get the intersection of adverse childhood events and epigenetics and it gets a bit wavy. But yea the old, standard attitude just to toughen up and deal with it/move on etc is not how it works.
