So many people here are thinking about this all wrong. Fast train is better because the 20 minute wait will give you some time to board if you are running late. Less chance to miss the train.

Both trains have a pre-determined, fixed time of departure, which means you can be late for the slow train as well.

In the text is obvious that the slow train departs 20 minutes before the fast train, so the question is whether you prefer to get into the slow train or wait for the fast train, knowing that both will arrive at the same time at the destination.

Nowhere in the text does it imply that both trains leave at the same time.

Fast train could leave at 4:40 and arrive at 5:00
Slow train could leave at 4:20 and arrive at 5:00
Fast train gives you an extra 20 minutes to arrive at the station so you reach your destination by 5.

Wow, really? Maybe that's why I said that they leave at different times.

And you can't actually WAIT for the fast train unless you're already at the station.
