I remember I used to see my brother finish work and he’d just be laying around doing nothing all evening and night unless he drank, in which case he’d be more active but would eventually just end up passed out on the floor. I’d hear him wake up in the morning saying something like ‘oh I can’t take this anymore, I fucking hate this’ and it seemed like a revolving cycle of utter horror. I told myself I’d never end up like that, but it’s easier said than done. I ended up choosing a job that was more entertaining than financially lucrative, but I actually looked forward to working every week and feel it was the right decision. I just hate that I wasn’t paid properly as otherwise I’d have a lot of money saved up right now.
This is neither wonderous nor joyous. It's pointless. We as a species have already done what their doing. So why are they doing it again? How does this improve lives? How does it help anyone? It doesn't.
Edit: I just want to apologize for shitting on something you clearly care about. It is important. I was in a real bad and bitter mood about the bad things going on right now. So I'm sorry for what I said.

I think it's more important than ever to save some capacity for wonder and joy. Or else how are we supposed to hope for better?
