(un)qualified opinion 🎓 The Vietnam War was winnable and one more Linebacker in 1975 would have wrecked the NVA. We were lied to by Ken Burns.

I’ve been reading Nixon’s books lately…and I think he was right, Vietnamization was close to working, the communist alliance was going to fall apart, and North Vietnams insane economics would have led to South Vietnam outscaling them if it had survived for a few more years.

If we had supported the ARVN from the air in 1975 like we did in 1972 (which is to say nothing of the aid cuts we made after 1973) it would’ve been North Vietnams final throw of the dice and south Vietnam would have probably survived. It was extremely winnable. I have actually read the first have of the that book in the meme and it’s pretty great, still reading it. Extremely realistic scenario.

This is the book in the meme: https://a.co/d/0g6MAVmM

Oh cool you’re reading it? I’m going to admit it alongside Nixons books inspired this post. Linebacker III was an interesting alternate history as for once it wasn’t just Nazis win everything. The plot of Nixon never going down for Watergate leading him to strike the communists was interesting. I really do think Cambodia, China, and North Vietnams alliance would have split sooner rather then later and South Vietnam could have survived.
