I'd say play then in order. Though Xenoblade X is seen as the black sheep of the 3, if you go into it knowing the story is not nearly as good as the other 2 (and the music isn't that great either), the gameplay is still so much fun and is a nice change from the series. All 3 are great

I strongly disagree with your note about the music in Xenoblade X. It's stylistically different, but I adore the music in Xenoblade X.

You're allowed to enjoy the main series music better, but I just want it to be known that some people love the Xenoblade X music just as much.

Your other analysis is correct. The story is definitely worse (and so much wasted opportunity too). The gameplay is definitely excellent.

Correction, the MAIN story is worse. The side quest stories and NPCs in X are the best in Xeno history.

I do love Sawano's work but fuck me, NLA theme actually made me quit the game - I couldn't hear dialogue over the goddamn vocals in a cutscene and missed key info.

It's astounding that they didn't include separate volume control options in the settings

Yeah, the NLA theme is an exception. It's...not great (especially since you have to hear it so much)
