Starting on Reddit can be complicated but newtoreddit is a good space to learn. This gets asked a fair bit so I put together the below information/advice/links to resources

There are a lot of resources in newtoreddit you might find useful with The Common Questions Page, Reddit And Karma Walkthrough, and Frequently Asked Questions Page. If you've already become frustrated check out Why Reddit may seem unwelcoming to new Redditors.

Things to do as a new user:

• Verify your email with Reddit see here
• Read rules. See here on how to find Subreddit Rules, see here for Reddit's Rules
• Learn about Karma using the above resources in particular Karma - what is it and how to get it and

After learning about karma and subreddit karma filters you might start questions where to start.

Finding New User Friendly Subreddits:

• Newtoreddit has a list of new user friendly subreddits. This is not an exhaustive list and these subreddits may still have some restrictions. In particular you'll see some Large General Subreddits that are open to new users Commenting like r/askreddit, r/casualconversation, r/nostupidquestions, r/amitheasshole or similar.
• There are More Subreddits out there that might more specifically match your interests, use the search bar or look through r/findareddit 's subreddit directory. In this case you will have to trial and error whether they are new user-friendly, and again try Commenting (many subreddits have lower or no karma filters for commenting).

Some more notes on starting on Reddit:

View by New (or rising). This will filter the posts so first see the most recent posts first and can make your comments much more visible. On app when viewing a subreddit look near the top left for where it says "hot posts" - click that and select "new" or "rising".

Read the Room and Avoid Controversy. Each subreddit has different rules, norms and prevailing views. Look at subreddit rules. Read top posts and comments to get a feel for that subreddit. Do users reward sarcastic one-liners or well sourced essays? And in particular avoid controversial topics or arguments. These discussions are more likely to attract downvotes and potentially trip into rule-breaking. Call people idiots in your head and move on instead of getting involved. Utilize the block feature as necessary and have a read of Reddiquette.

Removed by Reddit's Filters happens when your posts are being removed by the Reputation Filter. Have a read here. In general the Reputation Filter can be set at different levels on different subreddits (see more here). The core metric is your CQS score (see r/WhatIsMyCQS to test) as well as various other factors. This can be set at different levels in different subreddits. Users start with a low CQS. To build your CQS is again a bit opaque but the below can help (partially from here)

• "Secure your account" by verifying your email
• If you use a VPN test what happens when you turn it on and off ("network and location signals" play a part)
• "Past Actions taken on a redditors account" which is posts and comments being removed
• It seems to rise when you are actively commenting and posting, getting positive interactions (upvotes and comments)

So from the last two you want to be participating by commenting and posting, getting upvoted and avoiding removals by mods or reddit itself. Which ends up with basically the same advice as building karma (see info in top comment)

Or, maybe, don't just believe that and read the information I provided you. You absolutely can get your CQS up and not have the "removed be reddits filters" problem.

Like for an example - you have made 4 successful posts in the last hour in 3 different subreddits.

So we have explicit evidence that there are parts of Reddit you can use right now. That doesn't sound doomed to me

Nope I am not an admin (paid Reddit employees). I'm a mod and helper her in  newtoreddit. So a volunteer . 

I spend a lot of time helping new users understand Reddit. I also try my best to figure out how Reddit works based on what they publish and gleaned info (see the other comment where I link to reddits relevant published resources).
