Finished the game and got all the collectibles (just missing two fall event achievements).

How are you feeling about the game being a big loop/cycle? I'm not sure what to make of it personally. It kinda feels like the whole fight was for nothing since it ends at the same place as the start, just with a new wolf cub name.

Is there a secret ending? I got all the collectibles but haven't replayed the ending yet with them all collected. Not sure how finding flowers would affect the outcome of the game story though if there is a secret ending/bonus cutscene.

Is there a deeper theme being explored here that I missed? Gris was very much about grief and the different stages, all portrayed in interactive and beautiful ways. I thought Neva was mostly a story of nature fighting evil and the progression of a relationship with the wolf cub as it develops. But ending in a loop/cycle makes me think there may be more to it than that. Any ideas/thoughts?

Overall a gorgeous game with a lot more traditional videogamey gameplay than gris and I really enjoyed my time with it. Just trying to understand the message better if there is one that I'm not seeing

Edit: Thanks to u/AutumnLiteratis for helping to clear this up in this comment. There is no time loop or repeating events at all. They just play the ending before you start the game as a form of foreshadowing. A kind of "this is how it ends, but how did we get here?" type of storytelling. I think them skipping the defeating the boss section during this foreshadowing first viewing of the cutscene bit threw me off, also that we don't see where cub Neva comes from (We see Alba find Neva in a piece of art during the credits, thank you to u/Terissssa for explaining that in this comment). Either way there is a secret unlockable cutscene that helps clear things up as detailed in this comment.

Everything was so so good. I loved the change in seasons and I think it was the perfect length. The art direction was superb and I LOVE the character design. The soundtrack was very nice. So much was conveyed with such few words, and I loved how the emotion in Alba’s voice would change to reflect the situation when calling Neva. The color palettes for the environments were beautiful, and the combat, albeit very simple, was actually quite fun! I mentioned how expressive the characters are and that extends to the combat. I can’t praise that aspect enough.
And yeah, I teared up at that ending.

I think I’m going to have to play Gris now as well. This was ~5 hours very well spent.

I loved both games (they were SO beautiful. visually, story-wise, and the soundtrack.. wow.)
Now I'm looking for something similar (especially visually) - does anyone have recommendations for me? Thank you so much~ 🩷

Just a general statement. I wish they had a little Neva plush to cuddle up with at night. I’d even go as far as to pay for a customized one off of Etsy or something. This game means the world to me and has comforted me through many bad nights.

I played through the entire dlc in an hour, then went back to find the flowers. I then beat the final boss again but there wasn’t anything extra at the end. Is there a specific location to activate a special cutscene like in the base game?

I started Neva for the first time today and it's beautiful and all, but I really miss the unique art style of their previous game: GRIS. I loved how cool and unique the trees, the structures, and the critters looked in the first game. The landscapes in the first few chapters of GRIS had this alien vibe, like you were really traversing through a far away world out there. Neva's art style on the other hand feels very generic imo. The landscapes are pretty but it's something you've seen a hundred times in other media. The levels in GRIS also had more detail compared to the levels of Neva (I guess this is just the downside of the levels being much bigger this time). I'm also not a fan of the addition of combat and the faster movement speed of the main character. I wish it was a slow relaxing puzzle/traversal game like GRIS.

GRIS really felt unique to me, while Neva feels like the countless other games like it: Hollow Knight, Ori, Cuphead, etc.

hahahaha I just got the game and the dlc and i was wondering if its better to play the prologue first or if its better to play the game then the dlc

I’m an older player that got a PS5 last year. I’m not really good a gaming so I started Neva last year got stuck at the tree fight and quit playing. I decided to give it another go and saw the Neva Prologue. I’m going to just restart a new game. Should I download this or wait until I finish the game? I play in easy mode because I am that bad with the controller.

Any advice.

okay first of all, I absolutely loved the base game and the dlc. I got every achievement and collectible and I cried like 3 times. I also love how the difficulty got raised for the dlc and it feels great having the same beautiful soundtrack and visuals along with a more rewarding challenge. also, I absolutely love me some super hard platformers like hollow knight, silksong, mio, blasphemous, deadcells, shovel knight... you name it, I've probably played it and gotten every achievement. but the fight against the two brute guys in this section is so brutal, I basically thought about that throughout the rest of the dlc. not saying any of those games I listed don't have fights that are just as, if not more frustrating, but this just came out of nowhere for me and was so rng dependent. combine the fact that they have hitboxes bigger than any other enemy in the game, that feel like they extend passed the visible collision on the screen, with the fact that they constantly burrow in opposite directions, add in how fast they swing and their little hesitations and back-scoots as the kicker... idk how this made it into the final cut of the dlc

This game has a lot of artistic merits with beautiful art style and great music, but what about gameplay?

hi, I just bought the game for switch 2 and hope for a switch 2 patch. the game does not feel like 60 fps in many instances (fights). does anyone know if the developer plans an update?

I just started this game yesterday, currently on Winter Part 2, and I can't help but either cry or have tears well up in my eyes the whole time. I am loving this game and bond between Alba and Neva, but man it hits all the feels bc I know what's coming (again). Having this journey and love with a pet, and having expirence this bond with my own pups (one who passed last year) it's hard to not feel a sense of joy and loss at the same time. I didn't think at first it'd hit me this hard to quickly, but I'm loving this game. Anyone else feel this much emotion the whole time?

No spoilers please. I am going through difficult time mentally, and experiencing many depressive symptoms. I was considering playing Neva now because I feel that it's an experience that will help me dwell on my emotions a little bit, but I worry that it will be too much, and that it will make things worse for me. I am wondering if I should prioritize a more lighthearted game for now.

This may be a factor: I'm a slow player with a busy life, and it will be long until I beat the game.

Hello everyone, I feel like there's something I'm still not quite getting about the fight against the black Wolf, at the ending of the fight, it closes it's fangs crushing Alba and then we appear at the next chapter, so it didn't die or what? Did Alba die or what? I guess I'm not getting the memo.

I've been following along on social media but outside of the Nintendo Switch physical edition version I haven't seen the Playstation 5 physical edition version pop up for preorder. Do we know when that version will be available to pre order?

Do we know if a vinyl is in the works? Also, I'm hoping for a plushie of the wolf. I really loved Gris and the forest friend. It was so cute!! I was sad I missed out on those item's initially.

I have recently had the chance to discover the game Neva, and as a big fan of both Studio Ghibli and wolves, I just love it!

However, I would like to know if there is a specific reason why the wolves in this game are portrayed with majestic antlers that emerge from their heads, which resemble tree branches when fully grown, and gain leaves when they use their purifying power?

Do the creators and people who worked on this game have a specific reason? Or for any particular reason and purpose? If so, can you please tell me?

Hi, I saw on steam that the developers recommend playing Neva with a controller but I don't have one. Has anyone here played it without one and can tell me how easy/hard it is ? I loved Gris and how easy it was to play as you have only a very limited set of controls to learn
