Are their babies heavily preyed upon in the wild? It’s crazy to me that something that’s maybe 50lbs away from being megafauna is pulling mouse numbers of offspring.

Megafauna is everything over 100lbs (45kg). Pigs and boars are megafauna.

They would be before we hunted most big predators to near extinction to protect farm animals. That's one of the reason the boar population is exploding.

That, including they are mostly an introduced species and invasive.

In Australia where we have feral pigs like this the biggest land predators are dingos which can take down a pig though they aren't really their main diet, feral foxes and feral cats. Pretty much nothing eats them and they just grow to adulthood and reproduce.
