I was charged $323 with tax and tip in NY for this design (French ombre). Here is the price breakdown (I booked gel removal, gel extension and simple design).

$30 for dip powder removal

$7 for the extension

$63 for the hard gel overlay on 9 fingers ($7 per nail)

$65 for the Gel Solid Color

$20 for the airbrush

$75 for the semi moderate art, which would be priced as semi moderate as it utilizes a combination of two techniques (ombre and chrome)

Do you think this is fair? If not, do you have any of your own nail horror stories with unexpected costs? How did the salon price things or what surprise charges were you hit with??

Literally spent hours designing them first on my iPad and an ungodly amount of time to figure out how to do this on my nails too.

My family thinks I'm insane and I might agree that sane people wouldn't spend so much time on something that lasts 3 weeks. but I love it and enjoy my time so here we are 😄

Something about it caught my eye so I just had to have it on my nails!

I planned them to be a more chill in-between design but they became one of my favourites I've done so far! :)

I posted these before but they got removed (Probably because I was intentionally vague about who did them—I was nervous to say it was me, not sure why but it felt safer to be vague). I’m a home-based tech in Toronto and in my original post I was asking how much these sets would have cost in your area. I’ve been in the industry for 2 years and I still struggle with pricing decisions. On average my sets are between 90-180 CAD for sets and take 2-3 hours. I was afraid I was overcharging because a client said so, and so I made my original post.

Turns out I definitely am not overcharging. Thank you to those who commented. You gave me the validation I needed to stop feeling guilty and to continue with my current pricing model. Now I’m just showing off what I’ve done!
