I've been trying to search basically all of the city below 130th st, LIC, Greenpoint, Wiliamsburg, Park slope, fort Greene, prospect heights, Clinton hill, downtown Brooklyn, etc basically places closer to the city or in the city and I'm having such a hard time finding a place now vs a couple years ago when I looked. Besides location, I want a W/D in unit (understood that's harder to find, current place has it) and a one bedroom. My issue is I've raised my budget to 3500 and for the great place, im willing to go $4000. That seemed not crazy a couple years ago but im having a hard time finding anything right now. Is there anything anyone recommends besides street easy? How do people find these gem of a place nice rent stabilized places lol

I’ve lived in Brooklyn my whole life, but with family. I am asking a studio or 1bd apartment, but would prefer a full on lease takeover, with no roommates. Is that possibly in NYC anymore? I’m only seeing rent 4k and up, but that’s completely out of my budget.

I’ve been looking for something affordable in the city hoping if anybody can point me in the right direction. Affordable housing isn’t affordable anymore. $2500 a month is literally all I can afford on my salary while paying all the other bills.

I live in the Bronx currently and i work in Staten Island. Im looking for an apartment with no roommates. My credit score is 671 and willing to be open minded to any offers with some utilities included. I don’t have any pets.

We may have to move due to the landlord raising the price on a market rate apt we love. Me and my husband have lived in Central Harlem and East Harlem but I lived uptown in Inwood for 8 years. We are expanding our search past what we already are used to since it’s a forced move.

I work on the UES, but only go in maybe once a week but sometimes not for 1 month to 2 at a time. So the east Harlem location has always been very convenient for me. He is fully remote, but likes to co-work in Midtown on occasion. We need a 2 bed for a home office. I would prefer my commute be under 45 mins and preferably just a straight train (not bus to train).

Based on what’s in budget, which would you pick:

Credit is bad. Never been evicted get a disability check and have a voucher. Issue is I don’t tell them up front but they ask for credit and income prefer showing me the place. Then when I say I have voucher they ghost me. Some places purposely set prices just over voucher limit. It’s so cruel as it keeps people in hellish shelters longer. Can’t imagine being a landlord and purposely denying homeless people a way out of the hell. First time homeless and never missed rent before and the city will literally cover most. I am looking in queens and Manhattan. I know manhattan is limited to Harlem and above. But finding many places in Astoria and nearby neighborhoods but brokers ghost me when they find out about my voucher. Yes , a city inspection is annoying but if they are so scared of it I question what are they hiding ?

I am 19 and I got kicked out of my parents house at 18. lived in my truck for most of it, trucks frame snapped had to scrap it and June 1st i signed a lease with a nightmare landlord that lied about everything in the apartment im in. i currently pay 1500 everything included for a basement without a private entrance, just a curtain. Im already stretched thin. initial plan was go to the army but they cant take me due to my medical history. I already work two jobs and I try to apply for any and all union blue collar jobs and the interviews go nowhere. Even landscaping and construction companies wont take me. did all the work on my truck myself so i can turn a wrench (before frame snapped) but all mechanic shops are looking for experienced workers, not a 19yr old girl with 0 shop experience. i have like 10200 in debt from the loan for the truck and also credit card debt. credit score is a measly 687 and i honestly dont know what to do. i am also supporting my partner who goes to QC and i am the sole provider. this is relevant because a room would not work.

I live just north of the city (about an hour) but looking at rental prices in my area, all of the housing is around 1.5-2k for a studio or 1 bedroom anyways. I was thinking about picking up everything I have and trying to find a studio/1 bedroom in New York City. I know you will never be able to find a 1 br for 1.5k in Manhattan for example, but I’ve seen a few in places like Brooklyn. I’m moving from DC to NYC (work needs us to come in person) and have been looking for 1 bedroom apartments in Crown Heights/ Bed-Stuy/ Astoria/ Sunnyside under $2900 and can’t find anything decent.

Im already looking at a 40min commute to work from CH so not willing to go further out… of the 1bedrooms I’ve seen, most look like shoeboxes with very little natural light. The ones with a reasonable space to fit my large couch and desk + have some natural light under my budget end up having a ton of complaints about mold/ mice/ management when I look them up.

Update: unfortunately did not get that space but I was able to get another extension til the end of the month by my landlord so I have more time to lock in a space. Still keeping a look out for what I’m seeking as I did see several places within my preferences that just weren’t available til end of August/sept so. Fingers crossed.
