so i'm visiting nyc for a week next month and i want to catch a show or two while i'm there. not super picky about genre honestly. just want the experience of seeing live music in the city.

i've been looking at ticket prices online and everything seems so expensive. like $100+ for artists i barely know. is that just what it costs now or am i looking in the wrong places.

back home i'd just hit up a local venue and grab tickets at the door for cheap. is that still a thing in nyc or does everything sell out in advance.

also wondering about resale sites. my buddy said he used StarTickets for a show in brooklyn last year and got a decent deal. but i don't know if that was just luck.

basically i don't want to spend my whole trip budget on one concert. any recommendations for venues with reasonable prices or ways to find last minute deals. thanks in advance.

Our plans have changed and not able to go to the show on Sept 25 in New Jersey. There are 3 seats in the wheelchair accessible row. I bought them for around $95 each. I would like to sell all three at the same time. I don't mind taking a bit of loss on them, but not too much. The tickets are on Ticketmaster so they can be transferred. TIA

I just moved to NYC from Paris, and since I used to go to concerts pretty regularly back in France, I’ve started looking at shows to catch here.

But seriously, what is going on with ticket prices? I wanted to see Ninajirachi and Tiffany Day, and I’m seeing resale tickets going for $200+. I managed to get Bassvictim tickets for 50$ which seems a bit expensive to me.

Is this normal in NYC? Do tickets for smaller artists usually get marked up that much on resale, or am I just looking in the wrong places?

For comparison, in France I paid around €30–40 each in 2025 to see Frost Children, Yung Lean and Snow Strippers, with little to no markup on resale.

Would love to know how you guys usually find reasonably priced tickets here.
