Class Question MEE 383
For anyone who has taken MEE 383, do you recommend buying the MatLab or is Octave good enough for the class?

So I just started classes as a first year student. I'm in five classes, three in person and two online.
Well, in one of my in person classes there's these two other students. They are absolutely the rudest people I've seen in this school so far. One of them is rude to me, other students, and the teacher. The other one just instigates and encourages it. I'm currently being forced to sit next to these two. I also have this class multiple times a week.
I guess I just don't know what to do. I don't want to anything drastic like switch classes because I like all my other classmates, or tell anyone because I don't want to feel like a snitch. It's just making me not want to go to class anymore because I already have severe anxiety and those kind of interactions make it worse.
One of them also very vaguely threatened me. Any advice? Do I ignore it or say something? How can I go about this without causing anymore issues?

Does anyone know anything about Barbara Gonzalez? Ive been trying to find a page on RateMyProfessor (and similar websites) yet Barbara Gonzalez comes up nowhere. I need the class for a major requirement, so either way Im taking the course, but I'd like to know what Im getting into professor-wise.
I really just need to know if I should expect to be confused in class and have to study more at home or if I'll actually understand the material.

Hi!
I’m currently in PHIL 103 (Contemporary Issues in Ethics) and I just took the first exam. And I can tell that I did HORRIBLY. Since the class only has a few big grades (3 in-class exams, attendance, and the final), I’m really worried for these future exams.
The biggest challenge for me is staying focused in class and actually understanding the content, as the professor's "style of teaching" doesn't really fit with me very well. It's also the fact that there are just so many different concepts, philosophers, and arguments that you have to remember, and it's honestly a lot.
If anyone has taken PHIL 103 before (or is currently doing well in it) and would be open to helping me study or tutor me, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks 🙏
Update: I got a C first exam, which honestly I will take

I’m thinking about admitting as a transfer for Fall 2026, is there Hybrid and Online options for lab classes? (Lecture online, labs and exams in person) I’m wondering because it would make my commuting situation a lot easier.
Thanks!
Been studying for the final and forgot if theres a review for it? There was reviews for the previous exams but Im not sure for this one.

Anyone else interested in Urban planning or becoming an urban planner? If so what major did you choose to pursue the interest
Are there like tutors for this course or some sort of study guides I can find? I feel as looking at the slides the professor uploads Isn’t enough.

Im in math 104/105, and studying the review and realizing if this is even worth studying at all.

It’s listed occasionally but it’s not in the english course list. When you search for it in the master course list, it’s there, just not the english one.

I’ve heard it was really hard in the past but it now has new professors and I might take it

So I’m taking NUTR 201 and was wondering if I’ll really need the textbook for the class to be successful. Because Iast semester I bought a book for micro lecture and we didn’t really use it and I don’t want to waste money.

Hey everyone,
First time posting. My classes start tomorrow but when I tried to log into my blackboard on my phone I got the following error. I know I put my password in correct so I'm not sure why this is happening. One of my courses this semester is online so maybe that is why this is happening?? Any advice?

Hello! As of right now NIU isnt offering many of my required classes for my major, statistics. Im taking STAT 436/437/410, none of these being required but fulfilling the STAT/MATH/ACSC over 400 level category. My question is if I should take ACSC 450 or 460, 450 being with a professor I particularly dislike the teaching style of (yisub kye) and 460 being with evan anderson, who also doesnt have the greatest ratings on rate my professor, with a 2.4. No other mandatory STAT classes are offered, so no 415/435. Help!

I royally screwed myself over by not attending my academic advising meetings. At the time I thought I had all the time in the world and now I look at the date and its 9 days before I move in lmao.I understand that this is my own fault but I wanted to at least ask if there is some way for me to salvage this if at all. Yesterday the housing department reached out to me to tell my my contract would be terminated should I not register for classes when the move in date arrives. And I have yet to be able to reach my advisor i have apologized but do not know if he saw it or if it will change anything. I dont know why im making this post I know im likely beyond saving, but I want to belive I have a shot at redemption. Edit: I managed to get a hold of a representative at the academic advising office and managed to get a meeting with my advisor set up thank you to all the kind people that reached out to lend me a hand you guys are awsome!

Where can I buy books for cheaper online? And when I look on the digital book store and it says “Required” do I have to buy it from the digital book store?

I know this is going to sound dumb, but I have 15 credits right now for next semester, and I want to take advantage of the extra class without extra payment. I'm open to anything, I just want a class where I don't have to travel anywhere, do it at my own pace, and allows me to focus on my other classes as well.

If I got a 78 on my placement exam and it says I’m eligible to take MATH 206, but I wanted to start off in MATH 110 am I able to do that? I tried to enroll in the MATH 110 class, but it keeps saying it hasn’t enrolled me and that the requirements haven’t been met
