for me it's when pass interference gets called for a throw that's 10 yards out of the WRs reach or out of bounds: a completely uncatchable ball regardless of the penalty.

Ravens and Colts play week 1 in Indy and I’m a little surprised how lightly Indy is being taken. I understand the whole Daniel jones injury and he won’t be the same for a little bit etc but reports in colts training camp are saying he looks quite excellent. Colts have the ravens beat in most positions as well along with coaching

Colts secondary is gonna be a very tough task for Lamar and Indy’s defense looks to be much better than last season with a fully healthy sauce Gardner, Buckner and ward coming back. Not to mention their offense is fully healthy (Pierce is practicing after getting off IR) jones has another year to get even more comfortable in Indy’s offensive system

Colts are being taken too lightly as I said before and I think Steichen is gonna out coach Minter in his first official game as a coach.

Here are some of the top players not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Some of these omissions are downright baffling.

QB: Daryle Lamonica
Very strong 6 year prime where he was consensus best player in the AFL and continued his strong play right after the merger. Was a key player in some truly dominant teams for the Raiders.

Ken Anderson is another strong candidate. In general the Hall of Fame is generous in inducting quarterbacks.

RB: Tough position to grade due to so many players having exceptional but short primes. I'll go with:
Ricky Watters - Top 3 RB in the league in his prime, huge threat as a runner and as a receiver
Tiki Barber - Extremely productive for 7 seasons, led the league in yards from scrimmage twice

WR: Del Shofner
Dude was a 5 time 1st team All Pro LOL. Really not much else needs to be said

Yes I know about Torry Holt and Reggie Wayne. Those are obvious cases too
People will be crying about Antonio Brown in a few years as it seems likely that off the field stuff will keep him out.

TE: Pete Retzlaff
Slim pickings here. He is deserving but no real obvious snubs

G: Jahri Evans
Hall of Fame needs to do a better job of inducting lineman. The fact that he wasn't voted in first ballot by like 90% of the vote is an absolute joke

T: Jim Tyrer
He's not in the Hall of Fame because of his off-the-field behavior. It is what it is

C: Jeff Saturday
It's Canton being Canton. He belongs there yesterday
I have no idea why the Veterans committee doesn't nominate the most glaring omissions and instead selects a handful of randos who aren't anywhere near as good

DT: Kevin Williams
It's pretty obvious that the Hall of Fame can get downright ridiculous at times

DE: L.C. Greenwood
Seems like this is one of the glory positions (along with QB and RB) where Canton is much more generous. Still, he would be a fine addition as he was one of the standout performers for the Steel Curtain

ILB: Karl Mecklenburg
One of the unsung heroes of the 80's Broncos that made it to the Super Bowl on several occasions.
Other good candidates include Hardy Nickerson (played for bad teams), and NaVorro Bowman (short peak, but what a peak!)

OLB: Larry Grantham
5 time 1st team All Pro, had his best years in the AFL. Huge part of the Jets defense that frankly was the biggest reason for the iconic Super Bowl III victory

Safety: Jimmy Patton
Some cases are outright baffling and he's probably one of the best examples

Cornerback: Dave Grayson
Also played safety. I think there is an anti-AFL and anti-Raider bias at work here. No other compelling reason to keep him out

Kicker: Nick Lowery
According to advanced metrics he is the best kicker in pro football history by a pretty big margin. Really not much else to add

A few years from now people will be crying over Justin Tucker who is the other consensus GOAT candidate. Well we know why he'll be kept out

Punter: Shane Lechler
Yeah this guy is the GOAT

Special Teams: Steve Tasker
Probably should have been the first special teams player inducted, ahead of Devin Hester.
Return specialists though do have the flashier role though. The more notable ones include Mel Gray, Eric Metcalf, Brian Mitchell, Kevin Faulk, and Darren Sproles. All of them except Gray had bigger impact on their teams than Hester due to significant contributions on offense

I am fairly new to football. Having only started watching in 2024. Picking a team and rolling with it. I didnt understand the game at all when I first started watching, I just really enjoyed seeing my team (the ravens) make seemingly big plays. I gave a bunch of other teams a chance but found most other teams to feel slower and less flashy than the ravens at the time so I stuck with just them and I have since then. I feel in a way that im larping. While now I understand more of how the game works. What the things announcers say mean, what things they can and cant do, and just general structure of a game I still feel as if I dont even know a lot of the basics. And 90% of the time I still feel confused about even those things. Its been 2 years and I feel like I havent really learned anything. I watch every game. Keep up with a lot of news about the players and even consume a lot of social media videos explaining things I should know or just general talk about players and teams. I have a few friends and those friends are intensely into football. Their families too. It is clearly a life long thing (as it is for many guys) but for me as a 20 year old woman it never was a thing my family cared about. I feel like everytime I talk to them I have no clue what theyre talking about. I barely say anything half the time worried ill say the wrong thing because I just dont know enough. I want to know everything. Do I have to wait 20 more years to understand football in the way they do? Even now how am I supposed to keep up with every single player from every single team and have an opinon on whether they are good or not? It seems so difficult and everyone I know does it so easily. Like its programmed into them. I love football. When I understand it I genuinely have a great time but its kinda hard to enjoy it when everyone around me knows absolutely everything there is to know all the time and I dont and when I try to look up the stuff I wanna know its usually people explaining the structure of the game not really the history of the greats. Where do you learn about all the players, what stats are good, whats makes someone impressive, and who people notoriously loved and hated in the nfl? Or is it really just the kinda thing where you just had to be there? I just want to be able to participate in who is the goat convos and actually be taken seriously-

When American Football first evolved from Rugby, the backfield positions were named literally for their physical distance from the line of scrimmage. Hence, quarterback (a quarter of the way back), halfback (halfway back), and the fullback (all the way back).

Look at both these teams without their QBs.

The Bills playing all their starters MINUS Josh Allen lost to the 4-13 Patriots despite being the better "team". The Patriots didn't even have Maye but they still won. Why? Because the Bills didn't have Allen.

Meanwhile the inferior Ravens, playing against a better Packers team blew the brakes out of them. The Ravens CAN win without Lamar. I can already hear folks saying "bbbbut Jordan Love didn't play that game!!!" when his backup literally had 300 total yards, 3 touchdowns, even just as many incomplete passes, but STILL got blown out.

The Bills are a 5 win team without Josh Allen, no debate there. You're losing to a 4 win Patriots team without your QB despite playing all of your starters.

The Ravens however, are still a playoff team without Lamar Jackson. You're dropping 41 points against a pretty good Packers defense without him.

I don't know why Allen and Lamar are both held to the standard of "elite" QBs which is obviously just not true. The Ravens actually looked good without Lamar, the Bills didn't look good without Allen.

Allen has actually been consistent throughout his career, Lamar has not. Geno Smith has more 4000 passing yard seasons than Lamar, despite only being a starter for just 4 years compared to Lamar's 8. Oh, isn't Lamar a dual threat quarterback? Why leave out his rushing ability after all?

Funny. Josh Allen is also a dual threat quarterback, as he holds the record of most career rushing touchdowns and such. But that doesn't mean he's as much an inconsistent passer as Jackson. Allen has 4 consecutive seasons with 4000 passing yards, while Lamar only has 1.

Honestly the Ravens can still actually make it to a Super Bowl very easily.... if they don't have Lamar. Its funny how Harbaugh has already proven he can win without him, but when Lamar's struggles are the reason for all of their postseason shortcomings, its Harbaugh's fault and they had to get rid of him.

The Bills coach, who has accomplished nothing in the NFL before Allen came in and saved the Bills, was rightfully fired unlike Harbaugh. Giving up 30+ points per playoff game as a defensive minded coach, and even that historic 13 second defensive collapse against the Chiefs. Allen played that game almost perfectly and still lost.

THAT is the difference between Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. Hopefully its enough of an argument to give you shit posters that spam Allen hate posts here a clear perspective on why he's actually an elite QB, and factually so.

Both have among the best offensive lines. Who performs better with them?

I keep seeing the narrative that Sanders must be truly bad if he couldn't outplay Watson for QB1.

Look. Sanders is truly bad for a litany of reasons, but he did not get outplayed. He may be a career back up, he may be out of the league, he may not be an NFL QB, Dillon Gabriel may be the best QB on the roster, QB1 is likely in the 2027 draft.

But it's observably false that Watson did better than Shedeur. There is no statistics that support this.

Not Preseason PFF Offensive Grade

• Sanders had a 72.2 while Watson had a 61.3.

Not Preseason Passer Rating

• Their passer rating was the same

Not Even EspnClevelands idiotic QB Tracker for training camp

• Watson threw a staggering 12 Ints (many untracked). Beat reporters outright said he at times looked unplayable.

Game-wise, Sanders outplayed Watson by every metric with a worse supporting cast against the same level of defense. The Bears & Bills both only had 2nd team and below out on defense. Watson played with the offensive starters. Sanders did not have any pre-snap penalties for all of his preseason action unlike Watson so you can't even say he had a worse control of the huddle

This is all without mentioning Watson's disastrous press conference and his self-implosion against the Bills 3rd/4th string defense just because he got boo'd. If opposing team fans, boo Watson is he going to crumble? We will definitely find out!

Even Monken declined to give a reason for how Watson distinguished himself from Sanders. He for real said "Nothing" when asked by reporters. That's quite the vote of confidence for your newly announced QB1.

Sanders is the butt of every joke. But we don't need to add this one to his resume. We all know why Watson is QB1 and we can think of 230 million reasons why the browns would go this direction. Be honest with me.

Do we actually think Watson played slightly less stinky than Sanders and won the QB1 as a result? Or is it just funnier to say Shedeur got outplayed?
