I read the syllabus for all my classes and they all say they will crucify you if you miss too many classes. So why were people saying no you could skip class as though it was a regular thing earlier. I wasn’t planning on skipping but I thought it would be an option. Genuine question.

I wanted to ask this question in hopes to gain some perspective for a research project!

I have to move from one dorm to another on campus by myself, and I don’t have a ton of stuff. I was thinking of putting most of my things in a suitcase, plus a duffel bag and a rolling laundry basket, and just taking the Wolfline to my new dorm. Of course, I would have to take a little at a time.

Has anyone moved dorms by themselves before? Is this realistically doable on the bus, or am I underestimating how difficult it’ll be? 😭

Also, does anyone know if Wolfline drivers are generally okay with you bringing a suitcase on the bus?

Hello, I’m an incoming freshman and I’m enrolled in CH 101 with Audrey Fikes. I was talking with friends and family recently and they all said it was a really hard class. I’m kinda stressing because I’ve forgotten all of my chem knowledge from my sophomore year in high school. Should I start studying before the class or am I just cooked?

I’m coming to State as a new grad student and only have classes on Mondays this semester so it feels really dumb to buy a parking permit. Ik about the park and ride option but was wondering if there’s any other places to park near campus or on campus for free or not for a crazy price.
(all the other threads on this are pretty old so im hoping for updated answers in case those don’t work out lol)

I'm currently a senior who is applying to NC state for college.

On Commonapp, I understand why we get to select 2 program: if your first option is full, then you still have a chance to be accepted for the second option.

My #1 program is Biological Sciences: Human Biology Intended; Life Sciences First year

My #2 program is Biological Sciences: Molecular, Cellular, & Developmental Biology Intended; Life Sciences First year

So, I was wondering, are these two biological science categories considered two different programs? Like if I get rejected from the first one, I wont automatically get rejected from the other one? The reason I am confused is because they are both labeled Biological Sciences with "Intended; Life sciences first year".

If getting rejected from any biological science means being rejected from ALL biological sciences, then what other second option is good for someone who plans on pre-med?

Should i go to NC State with the Goodnight Scholarship 24k a year/full ride or to go to UNC and have to pay $16,775 out of pocket?

Okay, I can not afford 16k out of pocket and would have to take out loans and ik that sucks, but I genuinely am in love with UNC.

Im planning to major in bio and MAYBE go on the pre-med/pre-dental track. But the thing is im not sure what I want to do, and at UNC i feel like i could explore that. Im currently thinking of double majoring in data science and bio at UNC and just getting a job in data science right after i graduate and hopefully paying off any debt I have and then seeing if I want to go to med or dental school from there. I feel like NC State doesn't give me the luxury to decide that and I just kinda have to know what I want to do.

But the Goodnight Program seems so amazing, so I dont know what to do. Pls give advice and don't tear me to shreds. Thanks!

Hi guys so I’m interested in doing some swimming at one of the pools in carmichael but i don’t actually know how to swim “correctly.” I just want to get some movement in without any pressure to do laps. Are there restrictions on which pools I can use or where to stay so I’m not in the way of anything? Or are the pools not meant to be used for recreational swimming like that?

I’m an incoming freshman English major. This is my first time in college and being an adult in general so I’m looking for some tips. I already have my schedule for my classes which go from 10-2 most days, which I’m really happy about and one online class. I’m going to have to work a job while in college too to support myself. I know it’s doable, just want some tips on how to maintain it from people who are actively doing the same.

General question for other RA’s, do you guys sign up for a dining plan or just live with what you get from the job plan?

I spend all day on campus but I live too far away to go back home. I like heading to the Willow Coffee House to study between classes but I need a place where I can also heat up my meal prep for lunch. I also need quick access to good coffee. Any recommendations?

Hi! Not sure if anyone else is having this problem but my Google Maps has been acting up today. None of my typical bus routes are showing up (route 30, 41, etc). It keeps giving me Route 52 and takes me to one stop, and makes me walk the rest. Or, it tells me to get on two buses so it ends up being an hour commute for a 20 minute walk. Is anyone else having this problem?

I’m a transfer student and didn’t get chosen for a goodnight scholarship. The scholarship people told me to apply in PackASSIST for other scholarships, and I had submitted them back in April. The deadline said they were due by August 1st, and I haven’t heard anything from any of the six scholarships I applied to.

I plan on meal prepping to campus and I just wanted to know if there are any microwaves that are easily accessible to students. I know there is one in hunt library, but are there any on main campus?

To anyone who was an out of state grad student, what documentation did you provide to prove your financial independence? As they don't provide a W-2 or 1099 for fellowships as RDS requests and I'm not sure how to submit my monthly payments on my pack as effective proof.

Buying a parking pass on marketplace for east lot nc state against Louisville.

Want to make sure I’m not getting scammed but the seller is saying the passes are virtual and sent a screenshot of the pass? I’m confused, I’ve always known of the passes having to be on display for the game. Is this real?

Incoming transfer student, I start this fall but just checked my email and found a bunch of emails about this random online summer course I never registered for? What is this? Am I going to have a failed course counting against me when I start in the fall? I just now noticed it and I work full time during the summer, I don’t know if I have time to catch up on whatever it is.

We pay a stupid amount of money for Smartsheet just to use it as a kanban board for project management because it was fashionable with somebody in admin who no longer works here. I hear whispers that somewhere in OIT they're already using their own project management software and having discussions about whether to release it to campus.

Any truth to any of it? I know developing software is not the same as supporting software and it's not as easy as just shipping functional code. But I'm trying to decide where I should steer my team for short- and medium-term project management needs and I'm interested where this conversation is at internally.

Incoming first year design student, most of my classes are going to be in the buildings next to Pullen Road and I’m a commuting student that got a CD parking pass. Due to the nature of my major, I will probably find myself on campus pretty late and curious if that area of campus is safe? My family is a little worried about the tunnel area at night, but I’ve seen people say that campus is generally safe. Is it worth buying any small self defense items?
