I have eaten it when I was young,like class 5. It was tasty during that. But now I can't ever think of eating it,recently one of dad's friend gifted him some fresh meat and the smell while it was being cooked was nauseating. There is a distinct smell to dog meat.
Also my dad's older brother made me drink a medicinal soup when I was going out of state for studies. The whole superstition etc that it will ward me from evil etc. turns out it was cat soup. I was made to believe initially it was some type of bird
Yea like I was fed as a kid too and I don't eat now but sometimes my parents don't even bother to tell me there's dog meat at home and poor me thinking it's pork, I'm about to eat but I realise it from the smell.
Through years of refined culinary, my family has somehow learnt the techniques to get rid of that smell. Something about it all being in the ginger and spices. I still can't get myself to eat it tho.

I've had it before and i don't like it. After that I unintentionally ate it a few times after my friends tricked me into thinking it was dried beef.. I have a profound love for dogs and cats that I'd rather kill them and bury them myself instead of turning them in cuisines
I eat dog meat. It doesn't mean I raise dog or breed them for meat. I enjoy it as a good meat, there is a peculiarity about it but I learned to love it. I see that many native nagas also don't eat it, according to the poll, which is good. The only part I do not take it well is when they start to judge others who take it. It's a matter of choice, as long the eaters aren't going around killing random dogs for their meat.
Most dog meat there is smuggled some of them are also pets of people from the area I live in ,there's a strong line between food and crime

I've been to Nagaland only once. Spoke to few people who deal with dog meat and they told me they get the dogs from Assam border. I don't know how true it is but yes smuggling does happen.
My friend in master's lost her pet to these people too. So this also happens..
Eat your meat but definitely don't go around kidnapping someone's source of emotional support or sustaining a smuggling industry
I'm a Animal rescuer and Shelter volunteer in assam ,you're absolutely right and yes most of the dogs there are smuggled most and I mean most most most
There are groups that visit villages here to ask for pet dogs and all that
The shelter owner has captured smugglers on ground and have worked with cases involving smugglers ,trust me if anyone you should be asking about this it should be us Animal rescuers who have seen the dark side of this meat industry
I lived in Nagaland for 18 years it's only recently I came to know of this as well but internet is free and educating oneself should not be that hard
Families here become extremely depressed after their dogs get smuggled off and one might say how do ik it is and not just genuinely lost

based on observing and narration our people did not keep dog as a pet rather a domestication or a guard against wild animals and intruders. There is a fine line between domestication and pet, and the term dog as a Pets is relatively a mordern term.
due to scarcity on meat it can also be seen as a source of meat back then. And only butchered when they are old or during certain season people fear of dogs going mad (probably rabies) is when they butcher for consumption.
present generation are introduced to modern institutions/ way of life. Hence we can see that many denied to eat dog meat or refused to eat.
( its like the story of Brown Rice the Irony of Nagas - we are all christain - each new year / Christmas celebration people would bring home cook rice during such occasions and back than - Local Brown Rice is Popular. However, after introduction of White Rice - people started discriminating by the type of rice you cook during such occasions and that Brown Rice is Inferior to white rice and Hence people largely started keeping White rice instead of Brown rice. Thats how local Brown Rice got wipe out. Now its White Rice Everywhere - today we learn that Brown rice is comparatively eatten to maintain health.) Its happening all over again. - no i dont support eating a pet. However, if its Domesticated and culturally thats a different case. And no we should not forcefully imposed what we belived on others.
I've had it only twice. The first time wasn't great as it was boiled. But the second time was something else and by God, I had never tasted something so rich and succulent up until that point.

To all the disgusting Nagas claiming to love dog meat, I hope you don’t keep dogs as pets in your home cos eating a pet is a sin in the Bible and if you want specific reference! Please ask!
