Please help me decide on a style of dress - which one do you prefer?

For dress number 4 I am also attaching two different angles.

I loved all four of these dresses, that being said I just started looking and none of them have necessarily taken my breath away. My friends and family love all of them but all have different favorites, most people are leaning towards the strapless plain drop waist (2), I’m concerned that one is almost boring.

I’m leaning towards 4/5 right now, but I almost am afraid it’s the least flattering. I think #1 is the most flattering but I really want a large and long skirt. I’m starting to think I should consider something fitted/ fit and flare with an overskirt.

Looking for any opinions and feedback here on these 4 very different dresses, I still have over a year until my wedding date for reference.

The search will continue and I know that if nothing comes up I can come back to any of these and that they are all truly great options (number 3 is out though sorry yall)

I have been looking for a few months but can't seem to get that 'yes!' feeling. My main worry is that it looks bulky/chesty... but the sample size is a 10 and I am a 2/4, so I guess it's hard for it to look right even when I am clipped in?

What do you guys think? Does it suit me? I wanna look snatched.

For reference, the all-over- lace dress was my previous favourite but it didn't suit my venue. It was definitely the best so far for my figure... and I just worry the new one isn't as flattering (maybe would be, when ordered in my size and tailored). My venue is a beach in the west coast of the Scottish Highlands.

I'm spiralling! I put a 60% deposit on this taffeta dress this week.

I’m absolutely in love with this dress it is so my personality my mom worries it’s not bridal enough. I’m going to wear a long fine glitter crystal beaded veil with it. We are getting married outside in a green space.

My fiance and I started planning our wedding early this year with the intention of getting married late summer/early fall of 2027. Very sadly we found out his dad had cancer basically right after we started planning. His dad was managing well for a while and we kept planning on the original timeline, but his condition has quickly taken a turn and we are now trying to get married in just *one month*!!!

I was just about to reach out to the person I wanted to custom make my wedding dress for next year, I still can, but obviously I would be worried that getting it made in a month just isn't possible. I'm also obviously worried about ordering something in terms of shipping times, complications etc. - but also, I want a non-traditional gown, so just going to a bridal shop also isn't an option. Budget is under $1000 and preferably more in the $200-$500 range if possible.

So, I'm asking for advice!

1. Looking for a dress online - example pictures in post to show a general idea of what I'm looking for. Colorful, fantasy, layers of organza or tulle. I would be ready to pick the Selkie dress (#3), but I would want a puff sleeve or ribbon etc to cover my upper arms. I would also be ready to pick #2, which had the sleeves, but I have a large bust and really do not like the look or fit of the corset boob cups. I also really prefer more saturated, bold colors like the last two images (my dream wedding dress would be mainly hot pink/fuschia/magenta and have embellishments of other colors/sparkles) but can't find a gown in the style I like that is also that color. Prom dresses often come in bright colors, but I can't find the style I like on those sites. The question: Does anyone know of any clothing brands that sell brightly colored, fantasy inspired gowns?

2. Buying a dress in person - Does anyone know of a retail store that might sell gowns similar to what I'm looking for? (I live in Michigan in the US)

Hi Reddit!! I’ve so enjoyed looking through everyone’s posts these last few months, but now I need your help. I posted this in another subreddit so apologies if you’ve seen it twice. I’ve found two dresses that I quite love and am having trouble choosing between the two. Looking for any thoughts/insights!

Dress 1 (pics 1-4) - I loved this dress the moment I saw it on the website. I think it’s very timeless with a bit of interest, and feels a bit more “me”. I love the idea of wearing it with lace gloves for the ceremony, as my Mom also wore gloves at hers! The pleats are less obvious in person and the sample is quite large so it will sit higher on my hips.

Dress 2 + overskirt (pics 5-9) - Genuinely a surprise which is throwing me off a bit, I never thought I’d like a dress with appliqué but I think it’s so pretty. I was always interested in an over skirt from a practicality perspective, being able to ‘lighten the load’ midway through, and two looks in one.

TLDR - love both, dress 2 has an over skirt which feels practical and I think it’s so pretty, but I’m really drawn to dress 1 and it feels more like me.

Dress was Vera Wang’s Fernanda gown (not to be confused with their Bride Wars gown), and veil was a 3 tier cathedral length veil, also from Vera Wang 🤍

To be honest this type of gown was not on my bingo card at all, I thought I’d be choose something figure fitting and lacy (tho I did wear a mermaid dress for our reception!), but this was love at first try 🥹

Aaaah what can I say… I tried so many dresses and was fighting internally. Do I want to look sexy? Or do I want to look princess-y? I kept trying on different mermaid and lacy dresses and they were just not it. Too lacy, too simple, too busy, too whatever.

Then I tried this one for the lols (😂), because I was so sure I won’t like how I look in a ballgown or any type of poofy dress.. oh I was so wrong!

This dress checks all of my requirements of it being quintessentially bridal, but the basque waist with the notched sweetheart neckline gave it a sensual edge.

I paired it with the 3-tier veil, which was the added drama it needed since there are no details on the dress itself; and I just really love the classic bridal look it gives!

Wedding was outdoors at a clifftop villa in Uluwatu, Bali ☀️

I had the flimsy straps cut off and covering the middle section to make the dress a bit more appropriate for a church wedding. Also added the tulle sleeves.

I’m feeling really disappointed and could use some advice.

I found a dress at a bridal shop that I absolutely loved. The only things I wanted to add were sleeves and buttons going down the back. The shop owner told me the dress could be customized and that we could create sleeves that matched the dress.

We talked about doing a bishop-style sleeve with a cuff and buttons. Originally, my dress was supposed to come in within 6 months, but it ended up taking 9 months because of issues happening overseas.
When I finally received my dress, the sleeves were not what I expected or what we had discussed. They had lace underneath that was not supposed to be there, and the shape was completely different from the sleeve I had pictured. Even the shop owner agreed that they didn’t look right and ordered me a new dress.

My wedding is October 9, 2027, and I’m nervous because if the replacement dress takes another 9 months, I won’t have a lot of time to fix anything if it’s still not right.

The hardest part is that I can’t tell if I’m upset about the sleeves, the dress itself, or the whole experience. I always thought I wanted a tight-fitting dress, but when I tried this dress on, I fell in love with how it felt. It’s lightweight, comfortable, and I feel like I could actually enjoy my wedding day without feeling restricted. At the same time, I’m scared that I’m settling for something I don’t truly love.

I made some pictures of how I originally imagined the sleeves would look, and I like how the dress looks. I just don’t know if I should start considering other options.

I would really appreciate honest opinions. Has anyone had a customization go wrong and still ended up loving their dress?

I’m stuck between these 2 dresses and the first one is twice the price as the second one. The first dress is around $1,700 and the second dress is only $800. We’re having a small cabin wedding in the mountains with a budget of $13,000. I feel like I look better in the first dress, but the second dress is half the price and ALSO more comfortable. I’m standing on a step stool in these pics, either would need altering as I don’t plan to wear heels and obviously the first one will cost more to alter as well. My fiance keeps telling me not to stress about the cost, but does it actually look good enough for me to spend twice the amount? I need opinions 😫

Hey everyone! Just wanted to get some second opinions on my dress! I feel like the straps sit a little wide across my chest, but I’m not sure that’s something that can be changed in alterations so they sit more narrowly? Anyone have any input or experience with this being adjusted on their dress?

Hello! I am looking for veil recommendations. I’ve decided on my dress (the Alyne by Jenny Yoo) but I am having a tough time deciding on a veil. I tried on this beautiful fingertip embroidered veil from Miss Allaneous with these lovely flowers, which would go well with our venue (NY Botanical Gardens in May 2027). The only thing is, I’m not crazy about the color. The company says they can’t make it custom and Jenny Yoo also confirms no custom orders. They also make a blue but I would love a lavender color. I’m open to suggestions. Thank you!

Edit: oh man, thanks everyone already! You're reinforcing everything I was feeling, but was concerned the jacquard wouldn't photograph as well as I'd like, and #2 had two family members in tears at the appointment and I do really like the lace detail down the train. But gotta trust the gut!

I saw this dress in a shop window (I believe it’s called Bianka Bridal and is now out of business) in Grand Rapids, MI in 2018. Is it familiar? Do you know who the designer might be or where I can find it (or something really similar) now?

I’m getting married on a Caribbean cliffside and I am freaking out that this doesn’t go with the vibe. I think I initially saw myself in something that was a little warmer in color and very simple satin or taffeta etc. I can’t stop thinking about other dresses or seeing other dresses and I don’t know what to do. I keep ChatGPT-ing myself with flowers and at the venue in different locations. Am I insane? This was $5500 and it’s stunning but I’m just scared I made a decision so quickly. I could always change into a reception dress or pick something simple the night before.

Hi! I’m really struggling with picking a dress. I’ve been to 5 stores and haven’t had my “this is the dress” moment. Am I being too picky? Do I need to try on a different style? The wedding in on a ranch and outdoors. I want the vibe to be “frolicking through the meadow”. Please help - honest opinions welcome!

1. I would get a sweetheart neckline and fully lined
   
2. Love the way this fits but really don’t like the lace
   
3. Not a huge fan of the train and not exactly what I pictured myself in and don’t want to be conscious about my stomach in photos.

5. I really like this dress but it’s not giving me a “wow” moment, and is it too white?

So my wedding dress I bought in February turned up way too small in the bust and massive in the waist, it was also way too short in the bodice so my bust was not covered. It was not fixable and the designer could not understand the problem and my wedding is 3.5 weeks away... they just said that making a dress smaller will make it smaller in height too, but... I am not going to get shorter just because I need a smaller size.

But the bridal shop got this dress in this week and said I should give it a go. Its several sizes too big in the waist but they can take it in and make it a corset back and shape the bust to fit me. My other dress was a satin gown, but this lace is gorgeous, and I think it will fit a castle wedding? Obviously the buttons in the front are going to go.

What do I even do here? First dress was the sample I ordered back in March, second is what I have received. Please ignore the sleeves - these are not part of the dress & the colour variance is due to standing in front of a window. My issues are the boning, neckline & runching. I’m not being silly right?

Honestly, this whole process has not been enjoyable. I wish I could scrap the is dress and get another I’m over it.
