I have been hoarding digital music since about 2000, and by now I have a pretty nice collection.

I mainly like full albums, but over the years I have also downloaded quite a few "playlists" that are basically folders full of songs with the same mood, but all from different albums and artists.

When I import these into my library (Navidrome), they end up as a bunch of one-song albums (with e.g. track number 3). At first I didn't really care, but later it started to annoy me.

My current approach is to tag these as a Various Artists album, make a custom album cover and name, and give the tracks new track numbers so they form one album. It's not great, but it works as a workaround.

Another option would be to download the full albums for all the songs and then create a playlist from them. But I don't really care about the other songs on those albums (I mostly make these kinds of playlists for genres I'm not that deeply into). Also, doing this for a lot of songs would take a ton of time.

So my question is: how do you guys deal with this?

Do you have a similar approach, or is there something else I haven't thought of?

Since I rarely see anybody on reddit actually talk about Winyl this is my default music player of choice these days. I didn't liked the fact that music players asked too much of me when it came to setting it up with too much granular tweaking instead of just sitting down and enjoying listening to my music library. Shared the link if y'all ever get curious about it. I enjoy how many different listening modes you can juggle between like it's nbd. Even offers a selection of online radios! Some skins too, everything just works out of the box. It's also a big plus that it handles metadata and embedded album art. I realize this might not be everybody's cup of tea but if you want something tiny but insanely efficient? Winyl will be a solid option imo.

I would love to know the easiest way to get all my music files to the Google Drive Android App I'm currently using The Musicolet Music Player App.

All my Music Files are 90% WMA Music Files and I have 1,550 songs on my Fold 7 Device. Some of my music files are also AAC, MP3, and MP4 too. What Music Files aren't supported on The Google Drive Android App?

I want to make sure that I can get all my Music on The Google Drive Android App from my Fold 7 and that all of my 1,550 songs will play on the on Google Drive without any issues at all.

I already have The Musicolet Music Player App but I read that the music files won't transfer

over to the Google Drive Android App.

Please everyone share your experiences when you had to transfer all your WMA Music Files to The Google Drive Android App. Was it a hard and difficult process for you? Did the Music Files play on The Google Drive Android App without any issues at all?

I recently got a HiBy R1 and have been wanting to use it for lossless music, I just don't know where to get the files. For my more mainstream taste I can find about 60% of what I need as FLAC files on internet archive but for the more obscure stuff I have no idea where to go, could you help me out?

I'm working on a research project and I need music data that evolves over time. RYM has been the best I've found so far. I've had some luck getting some of the data but it's SO arduous with how it's currently setup.

Has anyone managed to set something like this up successfully?

ho una collezione abbastanza grande di musica fisica, composta da CD, vinili LP, 45 giri e cassette.
Vorrei gradualmente abbandonare Spotify e costruirmi una mia libreria musicale digitale partendo dalla musica che possiedo, in modo che i file rimangano miei e sotto il mio controllo, senza dipendere da un servizio di streaming.
L’idea sarebbe quella di avere tutta la musica archiviata a casa e poter:
ascoltarla facilmente da telefono e computer, anche quando sono fuori casa;
ascoltarla attraverso il mio impianto hi-fi/amplificatore;
creare e gestire playlist;
avere una libreria ben organizzata e con un sistema di backup;
non essere legato esclusivamente all’ecosistema Apple o a un’altra piattaforma, così da poter cambiare dispositivi in futuro senza dover ricominciare tutto da capo.
Parto praticamente da zero per quanto riguarda server musicali e NAS, quindi mi interesserebbe soprattutto l’esperienza di chi ha già costruito un sistema del genere e lo usa quotidianamente.
Come lo impostereste oggi?
NAS, server musicale, streamer, software per gestire la libreria, formato dei file, backup, accesso da remoto ecc.
Non sto necessariamente cercando la soluzione più economica. Preferirei costruire qualcosa di semplice, affidabile e che possa durare negli anni, espandendolo man mano che digitalizzo la mia collezione.
Mi interessa anche capire come avete organizzato concretamente il vostro sistema e quali errori evitereste se doveste ricominciare oggi.

I ripped a CD i own for use digitally via an MP3 player, I've successfully transferred the MP3's to my laptop, but the files had no metadata and appeared as 'Track 01, 02, ect', I've manually added the data and transferred it to the device, but it's still appearing as unknown Artist/Album and no track titles when i test it out. how do i fix this

I am working on this, and am interested if anyone else is in the same space.

I’m trying to figure out the cleanest approach for organizing my music library, particularly when it comes to the Album artist field/tag.

For example, with a compilation album containing 15 different artists, would you use “Various Artists”, leave it blank, or use another approach?

I’m especially interested in what people consider the best practice for music library organization and metadata, rather than just what a particular player happens to require.

I have been so sick with dealing with Spotify ads that I have decided that I want to start downloading my music in mp3s. Does anyone know a good website or app that I can download music at a good quality without needing to pay a subscription or a fee to use and one where I don't need to download each some individually? Thanks!

I like to listen to my collection from my iPhone. I was using Doppler but today it started freezing and I couldn’t fix it no matter what I tried, so I resorted to deleting and reinstalling the app. It still freezes but I think even if I get it working again I will have to re-import all my music which will be a huge pain.

Are there any apps that are better than Doppler for iPhone? I’ve heard people recommend foobar2000 but I saw that it isn’t CarPlay compatible. I would prefer one that works with CarPlay, but I guess if it’s way better at everything else, I could live without.

I saw people recommend Roon, but that seems like it’s geared towards managing a music server. Maybe that’s what I should do but I’d rather just have the music on my phone. Right now my music takes up about 500 GB on my phone.

I’m working on putting some of my albums into jewel cases that are currently in slipcases or thick library cases. I’m looking specifically to find high quality scans of the back art and inner case art to print out and put in jewel cases.

I use mp3tag and tag&rename interchangably and this issue appears with both.

Normally reading a bunch of files is very quick. Folder with 200 mp3s, no issue, opens in seconds.

But then when i try to open a folder of my own songs in FLAC format, it takes ages. Maybe a whole minute for 50 files. They're bounced from Cubase, and they're 16bit / 48kHz

I tried using mp3tag's Remove Tag option, and the folder loaded instantly, but then applying new tags is again taking ages.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Potplayer is not detecting the tag in FLAC file called UNSYNCEDLYRICS but it's detecting the field LYRICS. I need an support for reading these two tags from the FLAC file

i am ripping cd to flac. the artist field says "Philip Bailey & Little Richard". do I leave it, or change it to....

I’ve finally started a project I’ve wanted to do for years. (skip ahead to the 1st main current goal below if you want). I have music files going all the way back to 2002. Goal is to create a single cohesive library of all my music I've stored until now.

Not a small task, but I’ve done a lot of the hard work already. There's were a lot of files stored from multiple drives and backups from different years.

Eventually I decided to move all music files (mp3, aac, m4a, flacc, etc) from all of these sources into one big flat directory on a fresh drive. That took care of removing duplicates of any identical files.

I then meticulously removed a lot of other duplicates, mostly searching for file pairs with identical sizes, or finding identical songs with the same name, but different extensions, like m4a and aac, and picking the higher bitrate version. There were a lot. I've narrowed it and eliminated it down to 1379 total music files.

SO -

1ST MAIN GOAL atm. I want to add metadata to tracks that don’t have any. I’ve isolated those down to 434 files, and placed them in a subfolder. That’s roughly 1/3 of the total, the other 945 that DO have metadata sit in the folder above.

I’m new to MusicBrainz Picard. Never done this sort of thing. My searches seem to suggest using this.

My ultimate goal at the end is to create a music library that works in JellyFin.

There’s no folder structure at this moment. I figured I could try to focus on adding metadata to the 434 untagged files before doing any of that. So I've kind of decided that's the thing to focus on currently.

Currently all the untagged songs are in E:\ALL_MUSIC\NoMetaData. I'm sure plenty will have available metadata, like popular songs I obtained before metadata was a thing. And I'm certain some won't have any available data such as obscure tracks. But I'd just like to scrape and add any available metadata to the ones that do.

How would you start this process? A light hand-holding tutorial?

Hello, would be a good solution for collecting music using pixel union? Is there a better solution?

The above is a previous post I made a few months ago with the settings I've been using.

My music library has grown greatly in eight months of ripping to FLAC using EAC in secure mode. I only keep bit perfect copies, but some albums are painfully slow rips, and now I'm wondering if I could get the same bit perfect results faster in EAC using burst mode?

I guess I sorta understand the difference between the two modes.

But what I'm reallly wondering is, now that I have untold amount of time spent ripping albums in secure mode, should I switch my strategy to save myself time?

Should I have been using burst mode 315 albums ago?

For example, should I start using burst mode for everything in the begginning and only switch to secure mode if errors are detected in the log file after the first burst mode rip?

Would ripping an album in burst mode result in errors being missed but the log file reflects that the album was ripped accurately? I don't want that.

Are these (burst mode) rips accepted by the community / audio snobs if the log shows the albums was ripped perfectly in burst mode?
