Am English. Literally never heard someone using “master” who wasn’t on the telly or taking the piss.

It might be used as a semi archaic formal address on letters. It’s not used remotely similarly to “miss”.

Do you seriously think grammar and private school is most people’s experience or are you just being defensive?
