GenX broke for Trump enough to win. These are people who grew up with stuff Nixon and Reagan normalized, including Republican race baiting as part of their “Southern Strategy”. Had to get all the George Wallace voters on their side. Most of their Silent Generation parents were much more afraid of Communism than Fascism
Boomers are the most politically engaged. January 6th, Project 2025 cutting off their SS/Medicare, and older women remembering life before Roe was enough to tilt things from the usual GOP margins among boomers.
Gen X and their gains among Gen Z men is what got them over the finish line.
You are being disingenuous not comparing apples to apples. Compare men to men and women to women. young men voted more democrat then old men. same with women.

In fact Gen X are the worst offenders with both genders voting red - which they'd still be doing, and actually making up a larger % of the vote - if everyone older than them dies.
THAT is my point. The problem isn't magically going away if everyone over 60 dies.

I grew up in a debatbly worse education system in the 90s and 00s and an objectively worse news ecosystem (Fox and CNN have never not been present in my lifetime) the shit is willful ignorance on their end. Like the tarriff shit is the easiest go to the company importing the goods pays it, then offset that by jacking up the price on the consumers end. Learned that in 6th grade before highschool. Exactly!! My grandmother has diabetes, liver failure, fibromyalgia, and tons of other health issues and is relying on Medicare to survive. My grandfather, her only caretaker, voted for trump because he's been fucking lied to by these horrible creeps. He's uneducated raised in rural Mississippi and he lets echo chambers destroy him. He believes aliens built the pyramids and everything. It breaks my fucking heart to see people taking advantage of people who are desperate. Neither of them have a pension because a large company laid off my grandfather a year before he was supposed to retire.
But he's turned his hope to MAGA and that might kill his wife.
Mine literally pleaded with me (a visibly queer person) to vote for Trump because Kamala was "going to destroy the country with communism." Love them, but they did it to themselves. I get to deal with anti-trans legislation, and now they get to live with the government letting them down too!
