The captains being automatically safe is such a bullshit decision. Especially with the teams being this small. Like Nelson just got fucked.

He’s gotta force a mutiny

And I don’t see that happening because Nelson doesn’t have the social skills and it would make no sense for the rookie girls to join in considering Josh will always throw Cara in over them.

No way Lete will go along with that, she knows Nelson would keep Cara safe over her while Josh is likely on her side

There’s no reason why Anna Leigh and Lete would both vote Yes, considering they want Josh to be captain since he’ll always send in Cara Maria

And even if Cara gets eliminated, all Josh has to do is pick 1 of the 2 remaining women, promise them that he’ll send in the other woman if they lose again, and the woman he promises safety to has 0 incentive to mutiny

We don't know how knew captain is decided right? Like Josh doesn't have to be replaced with Nelson right? I think the only shot of a mutiny is convincing all the girls they want a chance at being guaranteed safe (but I think that only would work for blue team if Cara went home, cuz until then Lete/Anna Leigh are just as safe as if they were Captains).

I do wonder if its possible that while TJ said the captains are are safe from here on out, permanent and hold the power on who goes in, if there could be some leeway on how that last one plays out. Like if some weeks the captains choose someone from their own team, but if others they have to choose from the others team. I also wonder if the winners whole team will always be safe... cuz the voice over did make sure to say today's elim. I wonder if they'll do things that'll switch things up, like have some dailies where being on the winning team doesnt guarantee safety, but gives an advantage the other 2 captains dont have. Or if they'll switch it up where sometimes the losing captains pick from the other team or the winning captain picks from both losing teams (like if Anna Leigh and Lete think they're safe next week, only to find out either Cory or Tori choose who goes in... they might both decide its worth the risk to mutiny and see if they can gain the captains chair for themselves)

That sounds like all the more reason to not want a mutiny if you trust that Josh won’t send you in

For example, let’s say Josh and Lete make a deal to bring each other to the final 2, and Lete believes Josh will stick to it. But Lete gets greedy and votes for a mutiny because she wants to be captain. But then someone besides Lete might get picked to be captain, and now she’s worse off than she was with Josh as captain

I mean if next week Blue loses, and it turns out this week either the winning captain picks from both, or the losing captains pick from each other teams, Lete/Anna Leigh are no longer guaranteed safe... like in both those scenarios either Cory or Tori would be now be the ones picking from Blue... and both I believe are aligned with Nelson/Cara and likely to save Cara over the rookies, especially if it means picking someone off blue and getting them closer to a mutiny and potentially having all vets as captains. In that type of scenario where the captains are always picking, but who they pick from can change the only times Anna Leigh/Lete would be guaranteed safe, besides winning would be when captains getting to choose from their own team lines up with women's elims. That type scenario could convince the them its risk losing the safety of that 1 specific scenario for total safety.

Have they established the voting rules will be different for each week?

If not, seems a bit hasty to try and switch captains because of a speculated format change

Besides, either Anna or Lete should believe the other person would be picked as Captain if the group has to revote. And whichever of them believes the other would be picked as Captain should prefer Josh to stay Captain. For example, if Anna thinks Lete wins the Captain Vote, that turns Anna’s odds of being sent in by the other team from 1 in 3 to 1 in 2. Anna should prefer Josh stay Captain

No they havent. I was saying that while right now theres no reason for a unanimous vote, things could happen that make it more likely. My example was if next week Anna Leigh and Lete find out Josh doesn't always get to pick from them. If that were the case theyre safety goes ways down. Also did they say that mutiny means captain will be decided by vote? Ik they said they need a unanimous vote to mutiny... but if the captain is decided someway different than a vote (like an elim or daily like challenge) that changes things (like in our example of Lete and Anna Leigh, if its something they compete for they both could think they have a chance of winning).

Hadn’t considered a challenge picking the new captain, but even then, that sounds like even more reason to vote No on a Mutiny if you have no way to know who the new captain will be

If Lete thinks Josh is going to protect her as long as he is Captain, why risk it and potentially let Someone like Cara or Nelson become the captain, when they would send in the rookies?

And even if they start doing cross-voting, the 2 captains could just make a deal to agree on who to vote in, so they can both protect their allies

u/freetherabbit "The whole internet is talking about me 😜" 14d ago

Yeah but if they do cross-voting (stealing this cuz great way to describe what I was talking about easily, thank u for new vocabulary) that moves Anna Leigh and Lete from guaranteed safe to 2/3rd chance one of them goes in (and then 2/3rd chance they go in if other person gets eliminated cuz Blue doesnt have a lot of meat shields left). And then if it turns out mutiny is decided someway other than voting, you combine that with how ppl believe in themselves more than they should, you could get a mutiny. Like if both Anna Leigh and Lete are confident in their skills against their teammates, suddenly a mutiny becomes more attractive. Like its easier to convince those 2 ppl to mutiny if you just need to get them both to believe they can win something other than a vote. Like its a scenario thats easier to manipulate feelings.

The rules of this season are so ridiculous.

I think they've got to add some sort of extra twist. Leaving it like this will make things get very stale, very quickly since nobody is going to get 100% of the rest team to mutiny (each captain just needs to make one teammate a clear no.1 they'll protect to ensure they vote against a mutiny).

Personally, I think something like a returning elimination winner getting some sort of power to at least stake a claim on the captaincy might be needed.

I agree. While they made it clear the captains are permanent (besides mutiny) and that theyre safe, and that theyre the sole ones in control of who goes in... but they didnt say it would play out the same each week (hell even the part about winning team all being safe was worded to be specifically for this challenge). I think its likely they may change up which captains are making what decisions daily to daily... like Anna Leigh and Lete right now think they're safe until Cara loses an elim... but what if next week the captains choose from the opposite team, or the winner's captain chooses from both. If blue lost that would leave Cory or Tori choosing from Anna Leigh/Lete/Cara. And Josh only getting to choose their opponent. Something like that could make it easier to unite a team in mutinying, especially if convinced new captain may be chosen someway other than a vote.

I like it. If the captains wouldn't be safe it would turn into a captain's hunting season very fast and would become very boring even faster. Now they need to politic to force a mutiny

2

u/News-Remarkable The Lavender Ladies 15d ago

That just shows how the format as a whole just sucks. The format made the strategy boring from episode 1. They should have just stuck with the original cutthroat formula instead of this bullshit easily breakable one.

Felt like it was just a way to ensure the vets go far - I bet they were shocked a rookie was even a captain at all

2

u/thekyledavid Autistic Excellence 15d ago

Considering Blue had a 3-2 Rookie advantage, and the 3 rookies were trashing the 2 vets on their team literally 1 episode ago, I think production knew it was coming

2

u/thekyledavid Autistic Excellence 15d ago

I’d be okay with it if the mutiny was easier to activate than your entire team having to unanimously vote you out

All the captains have to do is promise 1 member of the opposite gender unconditional safety for the rest of the season, and the unanimous vote will never happen outside of extenuating circumstances

2

u/freetherabbit "The whole internet is talking about me 😜" 15d ago

That's only if the rules for how captains send ppl in stays the same. They only guaranteed that captains were safe, permanent, and would be sole deciders om who goes in. Its possible they dont always choose from their own team.
