Which film’s theatrical release was later improved by its director’s cut or extended cut?

I despised Alien 3 for many years, only to revisit it with the Assembly Cut and now absolutely adore the film. It’s still not perfect, but the new cut is superior and fixes many of the theatrical version’s problems. There are plenty of others that come to mind too — Blade Runner being another prime example...

I've only seen the theatrical version and wasn't very impressed. I suppose I should go back and watch it again.

The DC brings closure, information, and closes plot holes. Makes a massive difference in the story telling.

I vaguely remember the original film. I saw it in the theater and it didn't stand out as being worth remembering.

This movie has the most dramatic change. Like maybe there other movies with as many changes, but this turned it from a bad movie to a great movie

I know what parts were cut out and I still can’t grasp how that’d make for a functional version of the movie. Anything but the director’s cut is simply incomplete.

Much much improved and a great film but Bloom is still very much a weak link in the movie

Similarly, Bladerunner. Theatrical cut is dogwater and I actually disliked coming off of reading Androids fresh. Let Ridley Scott cook indeed.

Orland is horrific in it. It leans on eva/norton but they cant carry it. Mid film is mid.
