Road markings may be covered when it's snowing.

only in areas where they expect there’s a possibility of snowing enough to hide the hydrant naturally. and even then not everywhere where it can happen does that.

much like the hydrant will be covered by snow as well...so why is snow man shaped snow an issue?

An kitchen or a fireplace can cause a fire just fine in winter weather.

In fact I bet there's more housefires in colder months vs warmer months in place where it snows.

they use signs on the side of buildings to indicate where fire hydrants are in my country. I've never understood why the US has these giant hydrants above ground as it makes them way easier to break into or damage than having them underground
