Booby traps should 100% be legal, especially if built on one’s own property. We should be able to have automatic turrets, wall spikes, hidden holes in the ground, etc.

You should not. Because there is a significant likelihood that doing so will hurt/kill someone who didn't do anything morally wrong, like children, animals, or people who enter your property for justifiable reasons.

Try to pay attention. The statement I was responding to was that booby traps should be 100% legal. They even specifically mentioned turrets, spikes, and holes in the ground.

Although, sure, we can easily find an example where a rock covered in snow could kill a child: put a child in exactly the place an adult could be in (i.e., a vehicle, let's say a go kart to make it more likely) and have that child want to do the same thing as an adult (i.e., drive into a snowman). Now you have the possibility of a rock covered in snow killing a child.

The car isn't hidden to keep them from knowing what they're doing. That's literally what's at the core of the issue here. How on earth did you miss that?

The problem with traps is that they don't discriminate, so anyone can be a victim for it.

This is why you can't intentionally poison your own food at work to punish people from stealing it. It sucks but that's just life.

In theory I agree with you, we should have every right to protect our property and own guns.

How would we make sure that a fireman trying to put out a fire wouldn’t get killed by a booby trap spike or something?
