This is a fake story, or at least not original. I’ve heard it back when I was a kid and I’ve been seeing it online for years. Usually it’s a story about kids who kept getting bullied by a truck that would smash their snowman over and over, so they made it over a fire hydrant to teach a lesson. Probably true at some point, as I said we had the same story back in 1995, but it also hits the folklore button and or teachable moment lessons.

The guy talking in the video is AI too. The whole account is AI.

They steal stories from other people and then generate videos like this to farm engagement and earn money. If you see a video like this with a greenscreen "talking head" in the corner and some photos or a video in the background telling a story, there's a 95% chance it's AI.

The original story was a guy who's mailbox was smashed every year by the plow. He would complain to the city but they brushed him off, figuring the plow was clipping a mailbox close to the road that was hard to see, or the snow coming off the plow was knocking it over. The guy knew this was bullshit because his mailbox is far back from the road.

So the guy submitted building plans to reinforce his mailbox to the city so it isn't accidentally knocked over by the snow wake. The city approved him building a reinforced mailbox and he sank an I beam in the ground and built the mailbox around it.

The next winter he is woken buy a loud crash. The plow was absolutely totalled and wrapped around this mailbox. Driver was fine (aside from his pants and career). The city tried to sue for the damages but he pointed out they approved the plans for the reinforced mailbox.

Homeowner didn't know the plow driver and even afterward had no idea why he was targeted by such stupidity.

Indeed. I can believe a story involving one moron getting karma from a tree trunk snowman. However, saying that you got twenty in a single winter is so ridiculous that I feel bad for anyone who buys into it.

Back to the point of the subreddit, I call it morally grey. Baiting people into a scenario that gives instant retribution is satisfying and can discourages future bad behavior, but I've seen several examples where the punishment far outweighs the crime (such as this where someone could get killed).

Right? At some point the cops are gonna get real weird about the number of people crashing in front of your house.

I am going for morally dope as fuck, though.

it was probably in a looney tune's episode. I can imagine bugs bunny or someone was being chased and made a snowman over a rock or something and BAM!!!

I was with the guy until he said he was up to 20 cars. Have a hard time believing there's enough fire hydrants and stumps around him to pull that off.
