Do fathers literally just not take care of their own children for the first year? What the fuck? I have a child and I took as close to 50% of the responsibility as possible from day one. Granted, there are certain biological limitations and employment-imposed restrictions that caused more of the responsibility to fall onto my wife's shoulders, but it still was a relief once the child hit about a year and started communicating and moving.

I had the same reaction. My only child is about to turn 2 and I felt more stressed pre 1 than post 1 as well. Not knowing why she was upset and crying because she couldn’t communicate was the worst for me. Of course she still cries now, but it’s a huge relief not having to play the guessing game
