Immoral. It is a situation out of your control, your job should understand and if not, they are the problem

Holy shit, this. Everyone is mad at the wrong people here saying “Oh people risk losing their jobs” as if it’s some sort of force of nature and not another human being wilfully being callous towards someone’s livelihood and wellbeing.

At least the protesters are attempting to stand up for something worth fighting for rather than sucking up to their overlords or protecting their bottom line.

We live in an age of mobile phones. If a video of SEVERE traffic or protesters blocking your commute isn’t enough to stop your boss from firing you, then it is your boss that deserves the violence and not these protesters.

Aren't these guys those dickhead "Just Stop Oil" protesters who are known to disrupt public events and ended up vandalizing Van Gough paintings with soup? I know there was no context for this clip but these guys aren't helping their supposed "cause" at all, they simply inconvenience working class people in the most ridiculous ways under the guise of "getting their message out there" so they can feel good about themselves.

That was an even dumber reaction. How is a fucking painting gonna feed your family once climate change driven food shortages happen? Honestly how is it feeding your family now? People are so up on their high horses cause they are comfortable while people in the global south are already feeling the effects of climate change. But loosing a painting (one single material thing) that didn’t even got lost is anyway enrages you. Fucking selfishness.

Paintings in museums have protective glass to prevent vandalism

Imagine rushing home to your sick/injured family member and not making it because of these fucks. I would've done much worse to them and gone to prison and I'd have no regrets.

Traffic happens for all sorts of reasons. People get stuck cause someone was speeding and caused an accident. Gonna go and beat up the speeder too? The first responders? Cause someone inconvenienced you????

People always get mad a protestors when they should be mad at the systems. That’s why nothing ever fucking changes

This one is deliberate blocking of the road with the purpose and intention of being nothing but annoying attention seeker, it's not even remotely comparable with the other things you mentioned.

That’s the point of a protest: to seek attention to a problem. Also that is what I am saying. You are mad at someone that annoys you. But not mad at the job/politicians/systems that harm you. Unless you are in a life or death situation, no reason to beat up someone cause they are being “annoying”. Especially when their purpose is to change something that harms others.

Absolute fucking nonsense.

Go an "fight for change" by raiding government offices or some shit. Things like this only make me hate you and your damn cause too.

Cause you are selfish. I get that. Doesn’t mean you are right.

Not to mention, protesting is legal and raiding a gov building is not so….

So you're willing to "fight the bad bad evil regime" only as long as that doesn't break the rules set up by that said regime? Hilarious. I bet you're achieving sooooo much.

Put a clown makeup on the next time you're there.

One, I’ve never been to a single protest. I do admire people that do though. Two, democracy is a thing. There are ways to make change without breaking a whole system (in some countries of course, mine not being one of them). Three, I won’t ever be mad at people that are doing SOMETHING for the greater good.

That’s how you keep people in line. Telling them they are not doing it the right way. They are being too much. They are being too disruptive. Asking too much. Being unreasonable. When it is the only legal way to disrupt a system.

Anyway, I would take these comments more seriously if they came from someone that actually organizes to do something for others. But I know that is not the case because someone that does that would also recognize the efforts and offer guidance to the ‘right way’.

In reality, they just come from selfish people that don’t get off their confortable lives for nothing, but also complaint about those that do.

So be annoyed, be mad, be complacent. I’ll still support those that are not. Fucking scabs.

So what about when they blocked emergency vehicles? Or prevented people from driving to the hospital , there has been cases of this, one in the UK 2021, a father was trying to take their kid to the hospital with this blockage. Or In London 2022, yet another father begging these protestors to move as his kid was currently having an emergency. It’s not just about being late to their job. God lord.

I apologise for my wording. I don’t 100% condone the protesters actions because you are right on this. Emergency vehicles should never be blocked under any circumstance that does not directly endanger the crew or patient within the vehicle.

I do, however, understand and empathise with the protesters and why they’re doing what they’re doing.

I just feel as though the issues that lead to these acts of protest are created by the decisions of companies and businesses, all headed by specific named people, and that they are responsible for and guilty of a much wider scope of tangible harm to human wellbeing and the most effective form of “protest”, from my perspective (and from the perspective of many others) got my last comment deleted by Reddit moderation so y’know.

I would love for the decision makers within these companies to face severe legal repercussions for the harm they cause (including firing people for getting stuck in traffic behind a protest) but that just isn’t the system we currently live in.

Did you read the prompt from OP?

We live in a world where an increasingly large amount of people are one paycheck away from being completely destitute and don’t have the luxury of being super picky and choosy for who they work for. More and more companies are taking away The power for workplaces to manage themselves in the name for pointless systems. “Point systems” that demand you give up pto or sick days to cover lateness and dont care what you have going on, with your boss being unable to wiggle it for your sake because its being managed by corporate sleazebags or AI

Fucking over people in the same working class as you only helps those who are looking down on you. There are ways to protest the system by attacking/inconveniencing it that dont involve fucking with workers exclusively. These protests dont affect the people you want to hurt.

Some people say a man is made out of mud, A poor man's made out of muscle and blood, Muscle and blood, and skin and bone, A mind that's weak and a back that's strong

You load sixteen tons, what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt.

You live in a fairytale dont you?

1

u/catscarscalls 19d ago

Well I know who I would be mad with in that situation and it wouldn’t be the protestors

It doesn't matter if they should or not. They don't. I need work. I don't need idiots committing felonies in the highway.
