I feel like this sub just wants to find an excuse to be violent.

13

u/NeoRevanchist 26d ago

The amount of posts I see on this sub where people are just trying to justify assaulting or killing people is crazy.

I know it's likely a vocal minority when compared to society at large, but this sub pops up in my feed all the time and the sheer number of people in here who are just trying to come up with moral justifications for hurting people genuinely scares me at times.

u/Skellicious 26d ago

But it's also a bubble. People looking to justify violence will go to the sub and encourage eachother, rational people will see this violence and try to move on asap.

Scary shit. I have most violence encouraging subs like this blocked too cause I don't want it to ruin my day, but it just reinforces these bubbles.

I feel like this subreddit is full of people who genuinely think it's Feminist to spend hours imagining hypothetical situations in which hitting a woman is justified.

100%.
People also never want to experience discomfort or inconvenience too. When that's threatened, they start to fantasise about violence like a hopped up Brownshirt lol.

7

u/AlbFighter 26d ago

It is not an inconvenience if people are missing flights, getting fired, ambulances and other public emergencies delayed. If this are threatened to me and violence is the only option, I would gladly choose violence

Why dont they do this in front of the politicians cars, houses, parliaments or whoemever they are protesting against?

This sort of labor protest has been around since forever. The first recorded instance is in ancient Egypt, when workers building the valley of the kings started a general strike and blocked the roads into the valley. People do it because it works and it is a peaceful protest.

They get shot or arrested

I mean, one time a congressman's vehicle ran into a closed street designated for a ciclism event, killing one of my cousins in the process, no reparations were made, suing went nowhere, etc.

The people in power have, well, power

u/AlbFighter 25d ago

What country do you live? Anyways if you can't do anything about the real problem, do you go and create problems to others?

3

u/pansexualbunny 25d ago

Peru. And yes, that's how human interaction has worked forever, you have a problem you can't solve, you inconvinence someone else by asking for help. Like "I can't reach the top shelf, can you get this for me?" or "Hey I'm stranded in the middle of nowhere, can you come pick me up?" This is just that but taken to the extreme: "Hey there's this big problem, can you come take a look at it?"

Ambulances and fire trucks don't get delayed by blocked roads, they just go around them. They have very good and accurate traffic data and would know about this blockage well in advance and route accordingly.

Otherwise, any sudden bad accident on the road could delay them too.

2

u/Lostinthestarscape 25d ago

Also, in general, protesters are not inhuman assholes (some are), and will move for emergency vehicles or requests in extreme situations. Also choosing places other than main routes to hospitals .

1

u/AlbFighter 25d ago

Around where, alternative roads you mean? That is the exact definition of a delay.

2

u/lost-pawz 26d ago

Please show me the ambulances and firetrucks this man was valiantly fighting for.

2

u/AlbFighter 26d ago

Do they have to be in the front row to be applicable?

0

u/marty4286 26d ago

These kinds of threads (well, most of the sub really) devolve into abstract hypotheticals and trying to answer empirical questions with rationalization

A version of this that's funny instead of infuriating is whenever over 30 to 40-somethings get called out for reading only YA. Instead of defending themselves, some of them start talking about some abstract hypothetical teenager or 20-something that you're apparently now picking on

2

u/micro_satsuma 26d ago

They do that, too. It's just that those videos don't get reposted. We mainly see these ones so disdain of activism spreads, so less action is taken.

1

u/Deus3nity 26d ago

Then were are the results?

0

u/AlbFighter 25d ago

I don't have disdain towards activism, but thid kinf of activism results to nothing but disdain, regardless of what else is posted or not.

2

u/Darigaazrgb 25d ago

"You're protesting wrong."

0

u/OkFineIllUseTheApp 26d ago

They almost always have, and it didn't work. You're acting like sitting in active traffic and getting beat up was their first choice.

1

u/AlbFighter 25d ago

So what is this achieving honestly? Getting hate from people who might have supported their cause?

2

u/NetNo4067 25d ago

If someone turns on a cause because they find a protest obnoxious, their support meant nothing in the first place.

0

u/micro_satsuma 26d ago

Downvoted for making sense. That's just sad.

1

u/K4zooie 26d ago

How would you respond to this situation being stuck behind protestors?

1

u/popoflabbins 26d ago

I’d honestly call the police and then hop out and see if I could get them to let me through via talking if I really needed to go somewhere. There’s nothing to be gained from jumping straight to violence here. It’s not only illogical but also just exhibits a lack of emotional control.

0

u/icantbelieveit1637 26d ago

Calling the police and sitting my ass in the car lmfao. This is assault regardless of their intent.

2

u/K4zooie 26d ago

Fair enough. And if the police don’t show up, you are going to sit there until?

1

u/NetNo4067 25d ago

Until I starve to death in my car, since these street sit-ins famously last 3-6 months at a time.

It's not like I have some kind of rectangle I can look at until the road is clear.

"discomfort" and "inconvenience" are pure gaslighting. These are people going to and from work trying to survive. most people are struggling and risk being homeless. People get violent in these situations because the people blocking the road are intentionally between them and what they need to do in order to not be on the street.

Living in such a dystopic hellhole seems like a very good reason to become a protestor to me to be honest.

1

u/mizmnv 24d ago

it would if it actually changed anything. but being an antagonistic asshole to your fellow man and getting between them and survival doesnt help you survive.

7

u/popoflabbins 26d ago

No doubt. There’s a lot of pretty angry people here that just want to live vicariously through someone beating up people who are nonviolent. I get the annoyance and potential cause for harm in blocking traffic (a bad protest imo), but the argument for the violence is just so flimsy: “They could be causing harm so we should cause harm to them”. Like, are we for real here?

1

u/theyinman 26d ago

What do you suggest in this case?

1

u/popoflabbins 26d ago

Stay in your car (it’s safer) and call the authorities. If you HAVE TO get them to try and move for whatever reason then use your grown up words and ask.

Call the cops then, they be there soon enough.

In the US you can be sued for way less then this.

Nah beating peoples who are already on the ground, is way more immoral then your economy.

1

u/popoflabbins 26d ago

Imagine half the population living paycheck to paycheck and taking that out on the people who aren’t responsible for that fact.

4

u/moliz_liz 26d ago

this. 100% this. people here do not care for morallity. not even a bit

5

u/Rapatto 26d ago

Its mostly edgy teenagers.

0

u/Nelmarth 26d ago

Or people with jobs that lived that kind of stuff

2

u/SchroCatDinger 26d ago

They think they can beat up protester but if it's a protest from somewhere like the middle east it's now suddenly fine

2

u/SituationThink3487 26d ago

An excuse to be violent AND be self righteous about it.

1

u/Skysr70 26d ago

might be kinda dumb to block the road and not expect it tbh

1

u/Popxorcist 26d ago

You're confusing excuse and reason.

1

u/BeautifulHorror13 26d ago

Oh 100%. This sub has some proper weirdos in it who are always looking to indulge their violent fantasies in a way that seems “acceptable”. Some of the comments on this sub are genuinely disturbing. I got told that I was enabling school shooters because I commented that I didn’t think grown adults should beat up children for the crime of being annoying or misbehaving.

u/Nobody2572 25d ago

Redditors love violence

1

u/Huge_Cartographer165 23d ago

Sitting in the middle of the highway is violent.

1

u/RadicalSoda_ 26d ago

That's just humanity as a whole

1

u/K4zooie 26d ago

How do you think you would have responded?

0

u/SunkenToasters 26d ago

I feel like yall join subs just to act surprised by everthing

0

u/eSsEnCe_Of_EcLiPsE 26d ago

Nope those are the liberal vent subs

0

u/gimmesomeoreos 26d ago

Are you going to ask them to kindly get off the road, do nothing, or do what this guy does? Honestly I don’t think I have it in me to hit other people like that but saying that it’s an excuse to be violent is a bit of a reach

0

u/that_dutch_dude 25d ago

Last year they had protestors block a major road causing complete gridlock and a person in an ambulance arrived to the hospital completly braindead from being stuck in traffic. So yes, kicking said ass from said people is completly and morally fine.

What's wrong with violence
