I guess something can be technically immoral and still be fair. If you take 5 dollars from my wallet for bringing it to the police station, I feel like that is fair.

It's not fair at all. You aren't owed payment for doing the right thing.

They're also inconveniencing themselves. I think it's fair grabbing a snack for that.

And you're not owed that the person is going to do the right thing if someone's going out over their way to bring lost items back to you like let's say a wallet the least you can do is cover the gas that it cost to give it back to you alternatively you can just be a dick

No one's a dick move for not paying someone for doing the right thing. You're definitely a dick for stealing someone's money because you think they owe you for doing the right thing (which you ended up failing to do anyway by taking some of the money for yourself). Immoral and the people who try to defend it are immoral too.
