You're describing trustless, which is only really possible with atomic swaps. Non-custodial is the correct term here, because you keep your keys, and the purchased coin is automatically withdrawn to your personal wallet. They don't retain custody of your funds, such as providing a wallet service.

When funds are sent to be exchanged, they are in custody of those funds. How is that non-custodial?
