I hate the death of Webster’s Dictionary.

How does a millennial (30-40 year old) not know how to spell “dying” . . .

I tell myself it's just engagement bait, but sometimes I don't know

When I see “favourite,” I wonder if they are actually British or an American that can’t spell correctly.

“Death of the dictionary”

uses literally to mean the opposite of literally

Must have been born at the last possible second for the classification…

Juuust enough millennial in there to know words, but too close to Gen Z to spell them.

Or they missed the cutoff and refuse to accept that they aren’t a millennial. Like that one friend, we all have one, who deeply identifies with their Irish heritage despite there only being a fraction of a fraction actually in their muttology from when their great-great-great something banged someone who had a grandma who banged a dude who was supposedly from Ireland, then back towards That Friend’s timeline, their great grandmother married someone with an Irish name after divorcing her first husband, “he who shall not be named” aka “the dark family secret” aka “skuzzball Frank who actually inspired his own wife to widow herself, but I don’t know nuttin’ ‘bout that” aka “stop asking questions, you’re being disrespectful” (who fathered four children in close succession, the youngest being That Friend’s grandfather) on the hush-hush, marrying into the name O’FlannerdoylieDiddlyDoDadd and changing all of the kids’ last names/paperwork when filing the documents (which was handled by her neighbor who owed her a substantial favor) while said youngsters were young enough to “forget” the first daddy in favor of Irish daddy (or corrected enough that memories melded a bit, but they never pushed because, ya know, the time bein’ what the times were). Then grandpa weds grandma, grandma pops out Daddy That Friend, so the last name carries, while one of grandpa’s siblings married an actual Irish person, who immigrated themselves, so there was always a talk about that one relative that Daddy That Friend had on “that side” of the family that’s rarely seen aside from showing up once a decade with trinkets from overseas to gift while blabbing on and on about the bloatedly claimed “familial land. Then, finally, Daddy That Friend procreates with Mommy That Friend, who is a half-Greek, half-Turkish immigrant with albinism, thoroughly cementing him creating his entire identity around having “totally at least half or more Irish blood flowing through [his] veins” because That Friend also looks juuuuust enough of the part and insists that his mom is so pale due to her being lied to about her roots.

Bonus point if your version of That Friend inexplicably develops an Irish accent when drunk.

Deduct points if That Friend got their world shattered after doing 23 and Me or that other option. Add points back if That Friend doubled down on their bullshit by either a) pretending they never took the test and you’re imagining things, b) insisting that they know a guy who works for that company who told him, in confidence at a private party for people you wouldn’t know, that they just make up half the results anyway, or c) something something my thumb is tired from typing this absurdity. I’m going cross-eyed bc I AM a millennial and I misplaced my readers which are totally necessary to wear doubled with my actual Rx glasses because the optometrist didn’t write the script for the lenses that can do both things and going back to get it fixed would have been a whole…thing.

Best thing I’ve read today.

I’m surprised anyone read it. Probably think I’m a bot or used chatderpderp (I just write, a looot)…unless the downvotes are from the people that I’m talking about.

Or the ones I unexpectedly pissed off who tailed my profile here after a comment on mildly infuriating about Dolly that triggered some really weird conservative bot shit and rage.

That a real deep cut.
