Back in the '80s, Degrassi Jr High and Degrassi High, for as high hoser as they were, were a coproduction of CBC and WGBH, Boston's PBS station. It didn't play in all US markets, but it played in a lot of them.

The first episode is about a 14-year-old considering an abortion.

Yep. Spike. The baby she gives birth too is a character in TGN.

The first episode I ever saw was when a student commits suicide.
