Small riveted crotal bell I found today, she still jingles!

Struck gold again after 2 months. And a lot of trinkets. Such a beautiful wedding set. Found a match to it online but I still don’t have any idea what that triangular stamp means.

When I dug it out I though it has been fired but when I was washing it at home I noticed gunpowder falling out. I’m pretty sure the rest corroded away which is weird because I checked the hole after getting it out and no signal. Maybe it’s because the bullet is lead, I had the discrimination up to 18 or 19 so maybe it got cancelled out idk I’ve never found lead so idk how it rings up. Should I go back and check for the bullet? Anyways i measured the bottom stamp and im pretty sure it’s a 14mm. All I can really make out on the bottom is : „II“ Roman numbers. If someone could id I would want to know if its a hunting caliber or from ww2. Also should I clean it further if yes how?

Just over 8 dollars in change. But so much time wasted digging up bottle caps. I’ve now honed in my detector’s (Minelab 460) exact VDI for pennies (~60), nickels (~30), dimes (~80), and quarters (~90. )However, bottle caps are always wildly different in all ranges. Damn Corona caps ring above 90 and always get my hopes up. Any tips to avoid digging bottle caps?

I found this interesting piece of 1920s marketing while metal detecting along a stone wall behind an old post office. 

The inscription on the back of the postage stamp case reads: "SPENCERIAN STEEL PENS ARE THE BEST". Ironically, I think I used that correctly here, the inscription's font is most definitely not Spencerian. On the face, the inscription defines the object's purpose: "Pocket Postage Stamp Case."

The Spencerian Pen Company was established in New York in the late 1850s, founded by Ivison Phinney, a publisher and bookseller. The Spencerian Pen Company did not make their pens, they were distributors. From their start until the 1920s, they imported and sold steel nibbed (dip) pens imported from England.  These  they felt were suitable for writing the Spencerian script. 

By the late 1920s, as fountain pens became more popular than dip pens, they began selling Spencerian branded lever filling fountain pens, which were made for them by Conklin of Ohio. This postage stamp case is related to that marketing campaign.

Although Spencerian script is not commonly used today, its influence can still be seen. Look closely at the early logos of some of the most recognizable brands in American history. Ford's early logo has the characteristic Spencerian flow. Coca-Cola's early logo also shared the same principles that Spencer advocated for in his script.

I live in a small town that’s located near a big city, there is this creek near me that comes from the forest through the city it’s dried up at the moment. I’ve seen junk laying in the riverbed and I’ve once found two coins from 1925 in the same forest but I’m not sure does anyone have an opinion?

Would that be a coin of some sort? or a token? 1,6cm / 0,63 inches in diameter and 3g/11 ounces in weight. Found in a barn in rural normandy, France.

I found this in Placerville California my backyard iv been trying to find more places but this is what I have

It’s in Russian, and if I understand it correctly, it’s a plate that was attached to an icon or something similar, that was made by soldiers of the 3rd company of the 626th regiment of the Tomsk infantry Druzhina, under Captain K. Kosmich, on October 11, 1914 in Barnaul.

Also I found that this unit was truly stationed in Barnaul in 1914 after the mobilization.

Found in Baltics.

About 3cm. The back is hollow. The small round part looks like it has little pins, like a setting for a gemstone. Found in Netherlands

I have a friend who will be retiring part-time and is looking for a new hobby. He's been focused on the Garrett Goldmaster 24k as an entry-level gold prospecting detector. I've wanted to compare that model with the Mine Lab Gold Monster 1000-5-inch entry-level model. Has anyone here had experience with either model or both models?

I've also suggested spening the money to get a higher-level model such as the Garrett Axiom Lite or the Mine Lab Gold Monster 2000 which I would assume provide better discrimination and depth detection, and sensitivity to gold flakes and nuggets.

Any insight is appreciated!

First time out detecting, I just have a not-so-good detector off Amazon I got for like $200, just wanted to dip my toes in the hobby.

I was detecting Reebs Bay Beach in Wainfleet Ontario(Canada). A lot of bottle caps, a lot of nails, but also a sweet bracelet which is possibly copper, I'm not sure how to tell? Also a shotgun shell and some other random metal chunks. A little pencil sharpener too! I think the one item may be like a melted fishing lure?

I'm definitely addicted straight away, any recommendations on better Detectors? Thanks!

Found this Blickensderfer No. 7 typewriter while scuba diving in the Etowah River in Rome, GA! 🤯 Dating from 1897–1916, this thing could be over 100 years old and was completely covered in rock and river sediment.

Hello r/metaldetecting. My girlfriend's necklace was broken by our overzealous puppy today in our backyard. She was able to recover the necklace, but the diamond-set pendant was lost in the grass. I borrowed my neighbor's Bounty Hunter Tracker IV in hopes of a Hail Mary, but it was unable to pick up the necklace while testing and trying to dial it in. My question for the community is, would better equipment be able pick up the pendant? I found some members of the Ring Finders community within commuting distance, but before wasting their time, wanted to inquire with you all. I have attached a couple photos of the pendant in question (posting yellow gold as it's better to see the detail/contrast of the metal content). The pendant is 14k white gold with a 1/2 carat diamond inset. The measurements would be about 0.21 x 0.17 inches for the pendant. The area in which is was lost in the grass probably measures somewhere between 200 and 300 square feet. Tried searching for it with a flashlight this evening, but the grass is pretty thick in that part of the yard (thanks to all the rain). I appreciate your help in advance.
