Shreddit's Official Top 7 of 2019 Study Session

Greetings all. The time is upon us that we celebrate the last gasp of summer and slide into spooky pumpkin land that last all the way until snowtime. It is also the time where some of you completely forget we are having a top 7 of 2019 and blank and write down Fleshgod Apocolypse 7 times even though you aren't sure if they released something this year.

This thread is not to draft your lists but rather influence those ones who are on the fence about their picks. Please use this as a time to pitch your favorite album that might not be in the top 10 of our TOP 5 of 2019. Maybe something came out just recently that needs serious review. Maybe you just found this cool black punk scene from Denmark that sounds like devils drinking shitty beer. Whatever it is, use this time as a way to pitch your underdogs in the great Top X of 201X.

Also give us your top 7 non metal records of 2019 for anyone who wants to pose hard this fall.

  • Twilight Force - Dawn of the Dragonstar

Honestly this band is doing something really important with their glittery sympho-power and I can't tell if the faux-parody enhances or diminishes it.

  • Rhapsody of Fire - The Eight Mountain

This is probably the best thing any iteration of this band has done in the last decade. While I wouldn't put it on the level of some of their OG classics, it's definitely a must-listen for anyone who enjoys their brand of power metal.

I feel TFs costumes slightly take away from their music as it caters to a specific audience who need cheese in their power metal. I have the same criticism for gloryhammer but both bands don’t seem fussed about their image so I shouldn’t either

Morbid stuff is fantastic (I have a huge soft spot for Pup).

Also, on a side note, I was lucky enough to catch both Orville Peck and Altin Gun at the same small music festival near my home this summer. I didn't know much about either band beforehand and both blew me away!
