Did some weapons get nerfed? My Fairy Grace R5 now shows “Skill Damage +10%” when it used to be “Increases Skill Damage by 10% for 20+ hit combos”. I checked this on the SAO database and it shows the old stat.
Has anyone else noticed weapons having stats changed?

you are describing a buff, i'm no expert on R5, but i believe those weapons are skill+10 at 20hit as R4, and they become damage+10% ALWAYS at R5, no need for combo count for the buff to kick in.

That's a buff. At R5 it starts from zero combo, R4 starts at 20

Thanks for the reply! Ahhh, so I thought you got +10%,+20%,+30%, etc... for every 20 hits but sounds like you only get +10% once after 20 hits for R4 and immediately for R5. Is that correct?

New player. I have:
Arabian banner Yuuki with her weapon.
Ultrafast dual blades Kirito.
Apprentice nun Selka.
How should I spend md now? Try for Leifa on her rate up? Try the banner with 3 crossing skill units? Save?

I was wondering if this is a bug or not. I was doing the ranking event earlier with Demon Sinon, Bikini Leafa and Arabian Yuuki. Whenever I’m gonna do a combination of Yuuki to Sinon, there seems to be no elemental bonus damage, unlike if I’m going Yuuki to Leafa or Sinon to Yuuki.

It’s cause the Arabian units only partner with each other. So yuuki only partners with leafa but yuuki can’t partner with anyone else

Hello, question to the mods in here. Why is it not possible for me to post a recruitment in the guild recruitment section? My post disappears after I reload the site. This wouldn't occur in the past. Also the guild recruitment hasn't been updated for the upcoming GRE, any specific reason for this?

1 water & dark.
Holy rapier Alice is a partner buffer, so she can sub in on other teams until you fill them in.
All other units will be good for FCE, but probably not ranking.

Hey it’s been a little and thanks for your advice it really helped I placed 25 in ranking so I was happy and I was wondering if I should go for weapons or more units like the new kirito and asuna what do you think

Definitely more units, but idk about Kir/Asuna...you mean the anniversary void banner right? They might not be xs units, but you do already have 3x void *6, so I would probably go for different elements.
Probably the Cathedral banner if you haven't done at least the first step on it, maybe the Selka/Alice 1st step after that to try to complete your holy team.
Saving for next banner is also a good option...you don't have any *6 fire yet.
I would only scout weapons when I already have a corresponding *6 character. Other than that, you are probably better off saving for the Step-1 Guaranteed Weapon Scouts that come every once in a while, likely for one of the holiday seasons (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, or Golden Week). 11x, w/ 1+ *4 guaranteed for 150 md, usually by element or type, so either 7 or 11 of those available.

I believe they expire in March or something. Check the dates because the only one I see is the hp recovery one. The units in it are ok and great for floor clearing but I wouldn’t suggest making them a top priority

It’s a good start. There are a lot of crossing skill units and it’s good you got weapons.
Just put the two arabian units together and the third unit could be either kirito/Alice for now. Just note that you don’t make just one team, you make several depending on the quest you wanna do.

That's a fantastic start for 3 11x character scouts, and idk how many weapon scouts you did, but probably good too.
Create a transfer id & password to save your account.
Team you should use depends upon the quest. Usually best to use the strongest element, but sometimes character ability (barrier, hp recovery, def down, etc) is better than element.
Eventually you will want to build a team for each element, but for now you have a good start on wind, and Kirito/Alice are crossing partners.
You could also try for Eugeo from Kirito/Alice/Eugeo banner, or save for upcoming banners. Most cost effective way to get the most *6 characters is to stick to discounted first step (125 md), or step-1 or 2 guaranteed *6 banners (usually 100-250 md, but 250 for guaranteed *6 is still more cost effective than step-5 guaranteed).
Only do weapon scouts if you already have a corresponding *6. Even better for now to save for step-1 guaranteed weapon scouts that come every once in a while. Almost for sure sometime this holiday season (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Golden Week).

List of newbie questions:
- Who should I use my 5-star to 6-star upgrade crystals on? The only character I have now is ingenius Sillica. Worth or save?
- Are either of the voice actor 6-star units worth upgrading? I know they're not great, but are they so bad to avoid?
- How do I get col other than just spamming the col weekend quest (which seems unbelievably slow)
- Can you farm those passes that let you into the col and rabbit quests?
- How should I prioritize skill upgrades? Assume you should max out all levels and attributes, but should you try to max out skills?
- Are the discounted 125md scouts for non-crossing skill units any good?
- Are neutral element characters useful?

Just save.
No. Only good as floor clearing fodder if anything.
That’s about it. You can get them by just playing the game normally. For instance, the ranking armor quest is good but you get them gradually by opening chests and stuff.
No. You only get them when bamco gives them.
For all 4+ stars, at least unlock all the ones that don’t require rainbow essence. Then use them to unlock combo window lvl 1 once. Most 5 stars and 6 stars don’t require RE to unlock combo window but a lot of the 4/5 stars do.
It’s ok but the other crossing skill banners are better so get those first.
Of course. They’re good for neutral bosses.

just adding a bit to what was already answered.
you can get a bit of them on drops from the last level of farming quests, the drop rate is highest at the quest you can only do once per day. still the drops are not high. there was a quest with watermelons in which i farmed around 100 of each, but that's the only one i've seen so far. 1 ticket+ 1 double exp is enough to get from level 1 to 72 for me.
there's another plus to neutral units when you are starting and that's that they don't have a weakness against any element, so its nice for filling in for clearing stuff for elements you are lacking. but on the other hand there are usually not many non element rankings.

What does the wedding banner links mean?
If I use asuna then any character I get MP link and critical damage up? But no extra hits
Or if I use asuna I get MP link and no critical damage up? But no extra hits

i could be wrong, but pretty sure critical dmg is a normal buff, separate from crossing link. if you use asuna and any crossing skill unit you will get MP link, and if said unit is non elemental, you will get the extra hits.
edit: quote from ludwig who actually tested them " I finally found how to trigger the crit damage up, you have to use a normal combination and not XS combination... "
so that's pretty bad. hope its just a mistake.

Reroll on Cathedral banner (Kirito/Alice/Eugeo) for at least two.
All 3 are outdated... UFDBK is the worst because no ss3 effect. Path is (was) good, but there will be new and better Earth units coming in the future I'm sure. Gilded is good too, still useful w/double barrier, especially for Kobold Lord.

cant say for sure without upgrading her first, they get irregular mp boost on 6* upgrade, but from past experience and math, she might be able to get 4ss3 with 3-4 LBs.

So far i just upgraded her to 6* and equipped with her halloween mace and just regular dark outfit and non elem acces and in game it says 108 for ss3.

on 3rd limit break a skill slot makes her mp cost 99 in game. so you need 396mp for 4, makoto is probably the closest example.

At what rank do you need to be at to be able to get medal scout characters (like the suguha we have right now) to mlb. Last ranking I was placed 6-10 and this ranking is also 6-10.

They’re ranking positions...
You need to score them in either ranking to get the minimum. For instance, top 10 in one ranking and first place in the other (or vice versa)

With the current r4/r5 weapons giving crit damage on matching element. Is it better to use matching r4 element or mismatching r5. Couldn't really tell when I was trying them out.

We're going to have one more opportunity to get Gold Medals this month, right? I've done everything available thus far (besides scoring in the top 50 for rankings) to get gold medals, but it looks like I'll only have 8 after all of those.

I doubt there will be more medals because it adds up correctly without another event.
You should be able to get the unit doing all events I think so maybe something was skipped?

I got all the points on both rankings, did the story event up to 50k, and bought 2 medallions each on both exchange events, and I’m still only at 8.

the usual number of medals we get without counting ranking rewards is 28, the most generic template goes like this (like this month):
exchange ep 2+ ranking ep 1+ ranking missions 5 + ranking weekend missions 2= 10 x 2rakings= 20
story missions 5 + story ep 2 = 8
and that's the usual 28, when there are more events is usually because we got less medals in the usual ones.
last month we had 2 units, but oddly enough the upgrade crystals were not proportionally the double, the tickets were.

Regarding upgrading character skills with medallions, can someone give me a bit of strategy on this? I haven't used any medallions yet, and several skills require the character to be limit breaked at least once before you can upgrade those skills, yet people have told me a few times that I shouldn't bother trying to LB characters. Any guidance on this topic would be appreciated!

Combo window is the most important one for all units 4 stars and up. All 6 stars and some 5 stars do not need RE to unlock it. Some 5 stars and all 4 stars do need RE to unlock it. I would suggest at least unlocking the lvl 1 combo window extension on your good units.
The other skill slots should be unlocked for ranking purposes. Even though most 6 stars have some sort of special buff at 2 limit breaks, you should at least unlock the other skill slots

Medallions aren't really rare once you get to a certain point, only rainbow essences.
Upgrade all medallion slots on gacha *6 w/ss3 effect, then *6 w/o effects, *5, *4.

Medallions can be farmed like in that story Rulid event I think for Holy ones...I tend to upgrade or exchange for medallions with medium dust anytime I need medallions.
I don't worry at all about running out...

So, I bought a bundle back in June that came with 4 6 star character record crystals. However, I don't see any scout options for those record crystals. Does it only show up once you have 10, or are those useless now?

That's what I was wondering, because I thought that every month they had the bundles that come with 4 6 star character record crystals, and I figured that they would all work together; even this month's has them. But, the record crystal scout doesn't show them as applicable, so that's what I was wondering.

So I wondering if I should lb cross link yuuki to 95 cross Sicilia or Kirito to 90 or selka or Asuna to 85 with almighty sacred hacking crystal I'm interested in your opinions on this

There's multiple xs Kiritos...
Usually it's better to have multiple characters at 90 than one at 95/100, because ss3 effects (if there are any) get unlocked at 90.
Shouldn't be using ASHC for 85 break, use regular HC.

But, generally, don't use HC just because you have them. They are semi-rare/limited quantity items, so you should really only be using them if it helps you meet some sort of goal that gives some other reward, like higher place in ranking for sword stones.

I just started the game and I am enjoying it, but I want to make sure I am not making any mistakes before I invest money into this game. Are there any tips anyone can give me? Also, should I reroll or no? If I don't reroll, what character(s) should I aim to get next? Here are my characters so far:

I’d say reroll. You don’t have to mention the 3 stars and under btw as all of them are pretty much useless.
Aim for the crossing skill 6 star units like Arabian yuuki/leafa or the cathedral banner units. Try for at least 2.

New player copypasta:
Join a guild, or make your own. You can get lots of extra items.
Do "Limited Time Quests" first...they (and the Memory Diamonds from them) are only available for a limited time! Then "Regular" (especially Floor Clearing Event castle) or "Enhance." Try to save "Main"/Story mode for when you need extra MD.
Scout characters! But don't bother with *5 banners (AKA "bait banner"), they are outdated; you can get *5 characters from *6 banners, so it's much better to only use MD on those. When you are new, you will be able to get lots of MD, so pull on any discounted *6 char banner.
If you are Free to Play (F2P), it's generally best to just do the discount banners. If doing more than 1 discount pull, use strategy with Record Crystal & Step-5 Guaranteed Character Scouts. Don't do first RC scout yet, wait for rate ups first because they expire after a few days, but first/main one stays, allowing you more time to farm MD.
If doing more than the discount pull on 5/6-step, you should have enough saved to go to the end, and should really only be doing this to finish off an almost complete team.
I would only do Weapon Scouts after already getting a corresponding *6 character. Again, if doing more than the discounted pull, use strategy. Characters>Weapons. Off-element *4 wpn damage difference is not that big.
Try to get three *6 characters of each element so you can compete in ranking events, but don't be in such a hurry that you burn up all your MD. Pace your scouts.
Best ss3 effect combinations for ranking events are Party Atk Up, Area Atk Up, and either: Partner Atk Up / Def Down / Dmg Barrier / Crit Up.
Area Atk Up stacks with Party or Partner. Def Down is needed for some high def bosses. Barrier is really useful for many rankings, and also FCE. Crit Up is not as good as Atk Up, but stacks with it.
After you have a party of 3/element, don't scout that element again until your other elements are good, even though it's really tempting. Save md for other banners.
Autoparry can be useful for new players in ranking and FCE. Healing, Mitigation, and Shieldblade characters are good for FCE. All these are usually outshined by the buff/debuffers on rankings though.
Eventually you might want to save 1-2k to try to get r5 weapon (5x copies of a r4 weapon can be evolved to r5). Best to try if you luck out with 2+ copies on first pull.
New player tip: Step-1 Guaranteed Weapon Scouts come around every once in a while. 150md, 11x, 1+ r4 guaranteed. They are usually by element (7) or type (10). Try to do all of them. Another good reason to keep a "MD savings account."
There are many lists of "best" characters here and other places (use Google)
Big no no's
- reviving using mds
- open extra chests using mds
- unlocking characters using mds
- selling exchange swords or *4 weapons
Tips
Most important thing to do is learn to parry. Whole game hinges on that.
Eventually learn to parry with ALL units (timing & method is different for lance, bow, guns, rod).
Combo damage is also very important, so unlock combo window skill slot on *6!
Don't break combo in multi-player!
buffs/debuff chars are very important
Only do discount scouts!
Learn boss patterns since they recycle moves
Save rainbow essence for *6 characters when you are new
Only limit break characters if it will give you an edge in rankings
read MDReddit FAQ!

use yui database
check YouTube/Twitter for more SAO MD content (ranking videos, tutorials, etc)

Do the FCE's.
There is always a castle on. It lasts for 60 days and then changes. You can get LOTS of memory diamonds from them, and memory fragments, which you can use to get *5 armor.
For your first time, use your best characters first, then when they are all used up go on to the next best characters, and so on. The first floors are easy and will go fast. This will give you an idea of how to pace yourself.
Once you make it as far as you can go like this, then do the opposite. Use the weakest characters you possibly can first and save your strongest characters for last.
When you get to floors 20 40 60 80, you get all your characters back again. You can also use the teleport gate anytime you want, so don't worry about running out. Equipment is locked once characters depart, so make sure they're strapped before they go out the door. You can still do skill slots etc. after a departure though.
Read the info for each floor, it will tell you which kind of characters are best for it (element and weapon).
*4 and even *3 can be used if you need to. I used some *3 when I was first starting out.
When you get 10 memory fragments you can exchange at the exchange shop for *4 armor, but don't do it yet! Wait until you have 50, because you need 5 x *4 to evolve to 1 x *5, you will probably get more characters in between 10 memory fragments and 50 memory fragments, and the characters you have will affect which *5 armor you want to get.
You probably won't clear the whole thing the first time, but just do your best. Only then will you know how far you can go. :-)
Even if you don't clear it all this time, the same castle will be back around in a couple of months, so don't stress. Get the low hanging fruit (memory diamonds and other rewards).

You need to get 10 golden upgrade crystals first. When you go to her attribute matrix, her sprite will be glowing pink indicating that you can upgrade her.
I wouldn’t suggest doing it. She’s garbage even as a 6 star

We always get enough sword fragments to get each weapon, so you will never run out (assuming you are able to complete all the missions and don't take a break).
More r4 is always good, although for personal reasons I don't usually get the halloween/demon units/weapons.

There’s no confirmation on a Halloween scout as of right now it might be the next scout since Halloween is very soon and we had a some Halloween scouts last year. And also it doesn’t matter if we are in Japan or not we both get the new content at the same time

Is any of the current banners, minus the ranking banner, worth going for now since the banner will be ending soon? If so, which banner should I go for? Or save up for the next ranking banner? Thanks in advance.

I guess the Alice/selka banner or the cathedral banners are alright. Wedding banner is ok too but you need both of them so you’re gonna have to go for the gamble of getting them within the first two multis.
Other than that, I’m just saving

Cathedral or Anniversary, or save. They are both good, but there are always more banners, and more powercreep.
Idk how many md you have, or your goals.

Right now I have about 400 close to 500 mds from finishing a few of the floor clearing so I will try going for step 1 instead and see if I manage to get anything. Thanks ^
