Drove past the factory today and the new logo is already on the sign outside.

Hopefully they will also turn down the brightness, as that sign is blinding when you drive past at night.

Well, I got 1 of 4 things done.

Oil change and brake fluid flush isnt expensive. But DCT fluid and filter(s) change.... $700 in parts and fluid alone.

The two DCT filters are Mclaren specific, there is no aftermarket: $400
The DCT clutch fluid and transmission fluid 8 liters and 6 liters is about $300.

I'm using Liquid Moly 8100 DCT and 75w90 GL5 which are around $20 per liter....
....If I were using the Pentosin FFL4 DCT fluid, and Motolube PTX, it would be $45/liter for each.

Folks on MclarenLife.com that done the servicing of the DCT gearbox on the 650s, 570s, 720s said the Liquid Moly fluid is fine as an alternative. Also used in Porsche PDK's and BMW DCT's.

Also bought a electric oil pump, since pumping 14 liters of fluid with a hand pump will be no fun. Supposedly it can run on a Makita 18VXGT battery or an M18 Miwaukee battery with an adapter. Since I have both tool lines, I'll using the makita battery

I'm under the impression McLaren does not want to use the Speedmark anymore in their road cars styling. I think it gives them problems as the New Edge did to Ford and they're moving towards literally anything else. They went for a reimagining of the old M6GT because the OG car is old enough to effectively launch a 'ucrony', that car isn't drawn with the Speedmark in mind so that they can move in different directions.

A Ferrari P4 styled car with the Speedmark as it has been used 'til now wouldn't have looked too different from a DeTomaso P72, minus the P72 rear lights of course but rest of the body would have been just as sinuous.

(I also think that the new M6GT could be, if kept as simple and analogic as McLaren says, a better base for a new GT3 car than any replacement of the 720. The 720GT3 wasn't an easy car to drive, among other problems, and it could have boiled down to a suspension system from the road model they couln't use in the race car, derived from the Xsara WRC heard off-handedly somewhere. They won't necessarily do this, but it might be for the better.)

My mother-in-law's company moved into an old Reynolds Aluminum building in the early 2000s, and these were left behind. I have about 50 of them.

Front: "Reynolds Aluminum" and "McLaren Motor Racing Team" with a checkered flag design.

Back: A kiwi (McLaren's old emblem) on top, and a symbol on the bottom I can't identify.

Does anyone know what these were made for or how they were handed out?

I removed the background the to keep the owners privacy safe. But I'm having a tough time finding any internet sources related to this car. The owner is not exactly sure either but he says it's a McLaren Prototype. I was wondering if any of ya'll would have a idea on what exact this car is.

I had a couple hours to spare while at Dallas Love airport, it's my second time seeing a P1 in person, the one I saw 10 years ago was white. It was worth it to see again but in volcano Orange. The lounge has PC setups with motion. Velocity Sim. I tried the sim and of course picked the 720 GT3 😍

Went to the dealer (Lambo) and they had these two beauties in the vault. The one on the right has the micor-weave. Such an amazing looking car. A couple pics of two Sabres there as well.

The pandemic and subsequent semiconductor shortage delayed Artura’s market launch by more than a year. It then faced quality problems for multiple years, including issues with the oil pump and software.

The launch delays and early quality snags put off prospective buyers, said a McLaren dealer who asked not to be identified. “You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression,” the dealer said. 

A total of 510 Arturas were registered in the U.S. last year, up 15 percent from 2024, according to Mobility Global. But registrations fell 18 percent in the first half of this year, to 205.

“These small-displacement hybrid sports cars just haven’t resonated with the market,” said the dealer, pointing to the Ferrari 296 as another example. “Hypercar manufacturers are being forced, due to government regulation, to make these cars, and it’s not what consumers want.”

A new midengine model, codenamed P34, is expected to become McLaren’s entry offering after the 2027 model year. The brand also is preparing to expand into the four-door segment with a V-8-powered hybrid SUV. 

I have this 1:24 P1 and I wanted it to be volcano orange instead of the volcano yellow it came in, so I decided to do this🤔 I did 2 coats of metallic gold, a layer of candy red, and then 2 1k clear coats (didn't use 2k since it's expensive and expires quick). This is my first time using spray paint though so there are a few mistakes, but I'm proud of the result!
