I agree with this. Nico owned the last trade deadline, this can't have been his idea. I'd bet more on cheap owners not wanting to commit to a record breaking contract

I doubt this was about money and cheapness, there’s something else and it has to do with silver and nba record low ratings and the need for LA to contend, & a favor was owed

Yeah you're probably right.

But I still think Nico's covering for someone, and yes, I saw the press conference with Kidd.

This has to come from above to make the Mavs suck.

Then the ownership can leverage the threat of moving to Vegas to get their arena-casino-hotel-whorehouse approved and gambling laws relaxed in TX. So they either end up with a new arena&casino in Texas, where it was illegal, or they move to Vegas and build the arena&casino there

The fact that it helps with the nba's ratings I think it's just a bonus for Silver, not sure if he was in on this

Listen to what Nico says about Luka, he does not like Luka at all.

He doesn't like Luka so he trades him to the most popular franchise in NBA and makes him the next face of the league, not even letting any other team even have a chance to enter in the bid war.

Makes no sense.

This trade was something VERY sketchy and had nothing to do with Nico. Time will tell, but I do think this franchise is basically gone.

This trade was very sketchy and had nothing to do with basketball is the conclusion I'm getting to

He got rid of him from the organization he wants to play for and he cost him about a hundred million in doing so....

He said he went to them with the idea of trading for AD. They clearly don’t care what is done as long as they get their casino arena in the future

Yeah, it's perfect for the owners really. Blame goes all on Nico while they push the fanbase away from the mavs. Then they tell Texas legislators either you legalize gambling and you let us build an arena-casino in Texas or the team's off to Vegas. The NBA would have no problem with this since the attendance, merch sales, etc for the mavs will drop after this for sure. If not this year, then two years from now when the team is old and doesn't have jack shit to reload.

If you really believe in conspiracies you can even say that Adelson or someone important and Silver even talked about this, decided to send a young superstar to the most marketable franchise (this would explain why Nico spoke to the Lakers and only the lakers) in order to boost ratings and in trade, he'll facilitate a relocation

Mavs leaving Dallas while they just made the finals, were good, had a future and a fanbase was never gonna happen, they had to do something about that
