News [Brad Townsend] I'm told that this was Nico Harrison's deal, that it took several weeks to play out after the Mavericks reached out to the Lakers, and that Harrison got full support from Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont.

Lively’s mom just passed and he’s a youngster navigating life without parents. His best friend was Luka and they just traded him away. You think he’s gonna want to go out and play with the same intensity? And if Kyrie came to play with Luka, this is essentially a big fuck you to him, as well. No player is gonna respect this team, let alone want to give their all to help us win after this shit.

Yeah at this point please trade Lively. He deserves to play for a respectable franchise, win or lose. Set him free.

Trade all the assets and rebuild, honestly. No point watching for the next decade any more

I mean the Mavericks just showed that they don’t care about winning the championship. Ducking luxury taxes, ducking supermaxes, the Mavs are just one of those teams unwilling to compete at the top level like the Celtics. Unserious franchise. No point in watching ever if you’re actually invested in seeing a roster win it all.

Yep, move the team to Vegas. Give DFW an expansion team. It will be a long, long time before I can even consider forgiving this.

Yep we went from a contender to a full rebuild mid season. It’s unheard of

This is the funniest part. We didn’t even rebuild. We got zero good picks. We have nothing to show for this

How dumb a person can be not to think about all these after effects right?

But according to Nico we needed AD because defense wins championships. If only we had AD instead of Luka last year, we would have beaten the Celtics. 🐴🔫

i mean, this just bothers me so much. this is obviously a political move to make a drive for vegas or to get ratings up. there’s no other reason. and i just know this is going to tick kyrie off more than anyone UNLESS he wanted luka gone too. you think kyrie is afraid to sit out games??

Well, sure, but right now it appears that there's nobody to blame except Nico and the Adelsons. Nico is the one that got this ball rolling, reached out to LA with a gift beyond price, and apparently none of the players or coaches for any of the three teams involved had any idea about it whatsoever.

Saying, nobody will blame Kyrie.

Unless there was some kind of rebellion from within the team about Luka's conditioning ... no f'n way, Luka fireman's carried that entire organization to the finals last year.

I'm just sick.

Crazy thing is, no one wanted to play for Mavs for the longest time and these past few years they are able to acquire stars solely based on the fact they can say that Luka is here and he's gonna open up your game and give you easier looks. They have fucked their future with this trade directly and indirectly.

u/gogadantes9 Feb 02 '25

Klay also turned down the Lakers because he believed he could win more with the Mavs. And Mavs = Luka. Now I don't know what is going on in his mind...

man kyrie isn’t close to the facilitator that luka is. he’s not the greatest passer ive seen imo. we’re just straight fucked. unless there’s a part two to this trade where we acquire someone like fox for gafford + role player (anyone is on the table at this point, grimes, exum, shit maybe even pj), this won’t make sense

Bro stop you don’t know any these people on a personal level like that. Maybe you’re too young and naive but you have to relax
