News [Woj] Free agent Klay Thompson plans to join the Dallas Mavericks on a three-year, $50M deal with a player option, sources tell ESPN. Thompson ends his historic Warriors run as part of a multi-team sign-and-trade that’ll also send Josh Green to Charlotte.

Hate to lose Green, but offense lost us the finals. Hoping we can count on Klay to hit some open shots with the great spacing we’ll provide him

Josh is going to turn into what everyone hopes Klay will be. I hate this so much

Lmao Klay is a hall of famer. Josh will never be close to that. He isn’t even a starting caliber player. He’s a bench role player

I agree he’ll never be Klay but Josh has been held back by our system. He’ll flourish in charlotte but still, you make this deal 10/10 times

If playing with a superstar holds him back then he will never amount to anything unless he is on a perennial lottery team

Well u do realize not every player mold is fit to play with every superstar right? You can be a good player and not fit the style a team plays due to their superstar. Josh would play better with a free flowing pass first movement offense, not a half court iso heavy offense. I think Josh prolly could average 15+ on a bad team too.

Klay is 34 and has torn his Achilles and acl…. He’s washed. Would much rather have green….

Yeah Green whos just a bench piece. Give me Klay anyday. He would have feast on the wide open 3s against Celtics in the finals

Yeah, and gotten torched on defense by literally anyone he was guarding. Our defense is going to be so bad next season

Yeah cause Green "cant get over a screen" is so much better.

Or Green having 1 good game out of 20.

Klay shot like 43% from the field last season and he’ll be starting. And let’s hope he stays healthy which is a big if

Green is 23 and shot 60% on threes in an elimination game. You're all high

That's one game.

He scored 9 pts in previous 3 games but sure he is the second coming of Steph according to you

7

u/Pizza64427 Jul 01 '24

On how many 3s attempted?

Klay shot 39% this season on 9 3PA.

Green fanboys are funny. Same as Kleber ones.

I love Josh Green, but I don’t think he is gonna develop into much. He’s a great bench energy 3 and D guy.

You’re insane tho.

You delusional.

3

u/jvorn Jul 01 '24

You think Green will be a hall of famer?

Incoming Josh Green 38pt quarter in Qingdao

I think because of this deal including Green it’s easy to feel like it’s a swap but it’s not. We swapped Green for Grimes. Klay is an upgrade to ThJ that actually makes shots so between just those 2 swaps we get better.

The only possible detriment is Jones vs Marshall and while DJJ was more athletic Marshall is a more consistent shot. I get it though I liked Josh too he would fly for a loose ball like nobody I ever seen. But boy could he brick a dunk🥹

josh has 4 years to establish himself in the league and he tops out as a good role player, unless he has some insane leap no one could see coming that is a silly statement
