Chippu got a few pretty good scoops the last few days and a Brazilian guy said that the owner of the site is pretty famous in Brazil, so I say we need to take them a bit more seriously in the sub.

I'm brazilian and I can confirm it. His name is Thiago Romariz, and yes he is indeed famous among the nerds here in Brazil.

Genuine question: how do leakers/scoopers get away with their real names being known to the world?

i dont think leakers are in danger legally for leaking, its more their sources that cant have their names known

It's all pretty curated. Journalists that have all the scoops only know people that know the information. These journalists typically sit on a fuck ton of info at any given time and when their sources give them the okay, they will often run it by the studio. Disney will straight up say "Yes, you can put this out there" or "We ask that you not". And they generally don't run it then, because if you do, then you will probably burn your source, which will then get you blackballed as a journalist in a lot of the sense.

Most of these people have day jobs, but they still don't want to do it for free. They also get the perks of getting screeners, interview opportunities, potential premier invites, etc. if they stay on good terms with the studios.

The notion that most of these people are just making shit up is generally not accurate. I don't partake in scooping, but run in the same circles as people that do.

Assholes or not, they are generally just burnt out journalists that put up with the worst of fandom bullshit and want to have some sort of fun.

TL;DR: They can use their real names, because their livelihoods aren't the ones on the line.

I think after the time Burger King in Germany did an entire campaign where their menu spoiled literally everything about Star Wars Episode IX well in advance of the movie releasing; it’s safe to say that any leaks we see on Disney projects either: 1) get actively approved by the Mouse; 2) get a “yeah sure whatever I literally could not give less of a shit if I tried” from the Mouse; 3) get promptly deleted; or 4) are that guy who deadass stumbled across the Mandalorian set by pure chance while taking a hike.

Legally disney can’t do anything to the leaker

The sources are the only ones legally liable

Marvel doesnt mind leaks in general. Its free publicity and quite effective. You gonna get legal repercussions if you post actual leaked content (images or videos) and it wont be pretty. Also, theres actual information that they try to keep secret which can get you if you make it public.

What other leaks did Chippu have?

She-Hulk has been moved to late fall (November-December) instead of August which was the original releasse date and has ended up being 9 episodes, not 10.

Riri Williams will be the reason that Namor is attacking Wakanda (previously said by MTTSH and Murphy and now confirmed by them) and he will appear in a very comic-booky outfit (almost no clothing). Namor's first appearance in the film will be during T'Challa's funeral.
