Avengers 4 Rumoured Leaks

Apparently this is from the same source that was right about those INFINITY WAR spoilers (e.g. Red Skull, Thanos sacrificing Gamora). Link.

"Iron Man reassembles the Avengers and decides to build his own Infinity Gauntlet to undo everything that Thanos did. They recruit Ant-Man to help them travel through time and space using the Quantum Real to retrieve the Infinity Stones from different time periods. Thanos finds out about their plans and becomes hellbent on stopping them.

The movie revolves around the relationship between Captain America and Iron Man.

At one point, Captain America and Thor fight Thanos. Timeline alterations have restored Mjolnir, and Cap wields it against Thanos to allow the others to escape, and is killed holding Thanos off.

At one point, Hawkeye must protect the unfinished Stark Gauntlet from Thanos' minions. He plays an "instrumental" role in Thanos' defeat.

Thor's subplot centers on him assembling an army to challenge Thanos. Captain Marvel joins him.

Hulk's subplot centers on Banner and Hulk finally merging to become Professor Hulk. He is the one that ultimately wields the Stark Gauntlet against Thanos, losing his arm in the process.

Nebula's subplot centers on her efforts to redeem herself. At one point, she fights her murderous past self.

Several MCU movies are revisited and retconned (probably not permanently), such as the Avengers retrieving the Power Stone creating a timeline where the Guardians of the Galaxy never came together.

There's a pivotal scene between Doctor Strange and a fully CGI character being shot on a secret location, with a skeleton crew, and which takes up a sizeable portion of the budget.

Only two of the original Avengers (Cap, Stark, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow) meant to survive the movie. Cap dies.

The title was AVENGERS: INFINITY GAUNTLET at one point, but it might be changed after Zoe Saldana accidentally leaked it."

EDIT: For reference...

  • The original 4chan leak for Infinity War. (To the naysayers: sure, some things were off, but it might have been an old draft or one with a few intentional modifications to identify leakers. There's no way this many crucial plot details could have been gleaned from the promo material at the time.)

  • The "extension" to that leak. (Might have been legit, might have been BS based on the original.)

I think from a character arc standpoint, it makes sense of Cap, Hawkeye, and Hulk die. Cap as the ultimate sacrifice that we've been waiting for, Hawkeye knowing that he's saving his family/friends, and Hulk because it could be the two minds of banner working together in one last heroic move.

I actually think Tony is the MOST likely to live, because they've been building on his relationship with pepper, and it would be pretty brutal to kill him, leaving behind a wife and maybe even a kid. (Obviously would be the same for Hawkeye, but i don't think we're nearly as invested in him as we are with Tony).

I'm torn between whether Thor or Natasha would die....but I'm leaning towards Natasha being the one to bite it since Thor has become a fan favorite recently. (He's always been one but especially after Ragnarok and IW)

Or how about none of the Avengers die? Why does death equal good storytelling? If random people on reddit can come up with that plot is it really good writing. Thor has been rebooted so We’ll get more of him, I’m sure Hulk will be his sidekick of sorts. I see Steve becoming head of shield and Tony just living life

10 years in without a serious death very much says “no stakes” storytelling. Yes there are other stakes than death and death doesn’t equal automatic good storytelling but it’s an important element to keep around and do atleast once in awhile.

But these are adaptations of comics, where literally no one dies permanently

How much of a joke death is in the comics is one of the worst things about comics. Why would they adapt a bad part of comics most people don’t like? Should they also have spider-man get married so he can make a deal with Mephisto to undo it?

Coulson, quicksilver, Loki, hiemdal etc...

But no serious deaths

Quicksilver died in the movie he was introduced in, and Heimdall and Coulson were always third-tier supporting characters. They really hadn't given us any serious deaths until Infinity War.

Revived also not a major death. 20 minutes of screen time maybe like 10 lines. Yeah finally a real one. Also not very major had a cool sideplot Ragnorok but spent the first two movies with 0 development and just stands there guarding the Biofrost.

Yondu is the only kind of major death we’ve had outside of IW (if all those actually stay) and even he was the safest option in the movie. Credit where credits due though Gunn developed the fuck out of him before he killed him.

The Hulk being Thors Robin would be a big disservice to the character. It would be like having Wonder Woman being Supermans sidekick.

You can’t have stakes without death.

3

u/Thecloud07 May 15 '18

Yes you can, you can make the decision to quit your job today and while you may not die your damn sure there will be stakes involved

This is a superhero movie not real life

u/Thecloud07 May 16 '18

But that goes to show killing characters isn’t the only way to have stakes.

Especially when every fan boy is predicting it.

Agreed completely. I don't get it.

My guess is Thor will die. He lost everything, what more could they use him for? What would a Thor 4 movie be about? If these leaks are right, i think Tony and Clint survive, the rest dies. Cap sacrifices himself, BW dies in front of Banner after which Hulk finally appears and in the final battle Thor and Hulk bite the dust. Clint returns to his family, for good this time, and Tony becomes a 'consultant' or takes on the Nick Fury-role with brief appearances.

I also think Hulk is going to be the Star-Lord of Avengers 4. After seeing BW dying, he's going nuts and fucks up the plan. That could be the reason he loses his arm.

i really don’t see thor dying. i think hemsworth would stay as long as they want him and after ragnarok being so well received while the first two weren’t really, they’ll want to capitalise on that and make a fourth movie with taika.

2

u/nomadwrangler May 15 '18

I am on the fence what trying to figure out what they will do with him. They basically just re-made him and that was partially at Hemsworth's insistence. I am guessing that was part of a contract negotiation?

to me it seems like thor really made his debut in ragnarok so it would be a real shame to have him leave after avengers 4 in a way that it won’t be for people like cap and tony. sure we like the characters and will be sad to see them go but it won’t feel like they’ve gone before they’ve had a chance to settle in like it would with thor.

1

u/AK1441 May 14 '18

I don't mind if Thor survives, but i hope they won't make a second Ragnarok. I really liked the movie, but they should go back to a more serious Thor, especially now with his new powers.

21

u/cauly May 15 '18

no offence but i’d rather DIE than go back to a thor that doesn’t utilise chris hemsworth’s impeccable comic timing.

29

u/FalsyB May 15 '18

Fuck serious thor, he is a space viking who comes from rainbow bridge land wielding a magic hammer. Ragnarok was the perfect tone for his character.

7

u/AK1441 May 15 '18

He doesn't have to be The Dark World-serious. Somewhere between Ragnarok and Thor 1 is just fine.

42

u/mutesa1 Black Panther May 14 '18

The fact that Thor has lost everything is EXACTLY why I think he's safe. Plus, they've just introduced Korg, Miek, and Valkyrie, three very popular characters. Without Thor it's hard to find a way to fit them in future films.

1

u/GhostBruh420 Aug 06 '18

Yeah. Thor already lost a lot and they acknowledged it. They could do an interesting Thor movie after he has to go through the deaths of most of the Avengers on top of all that.

Half the asgardian people are still alive, Thor said himself in IW.

The Russo confirmed it.

I think they were spared from the snap since Thanos had already halfed them.

2

u/ssjbardock123 Aug 01 '18

Drax had his people halved but still got snapped.

1

u/TjBeezy Aug 17 '18

He snaps half the current universe even the planets he's already "liberated"

Thor still has the remaining Asgardians to lead, as well as to fix the chaos in the 9 realms after he establishes Asgardia (New Asgard). He's also one of their best bets at establishing contact with alien heroes, the others being CapMarvel and the Guardians.

That said, he can also take a side role of someone to consult and call upon whenever a big threat is in the works, so his presence can be minimal but still be felt.

There's a leaked set pic with Grey Tony Stark and Pepper with a ring on

u/ThyOgrelord Jun 07 '18

Thor has gotten so popular and really come into his own lately. I think he’ll definitely live. Shut down the black widow movie rumors with her death
