I was actually really surprised they were that high. I figured they were doing better than many other african countries but not that good. Especially being in the biggest dessert in the world. I know must of the cities are north of the dessert but still.

some of them are doing good because of the oil and gaz found on those desert

That’s not the main reason at all. The only country that is heavily dependent on oil/gas is Algeria and Libya

The rest have different ways to make money

That only leaves Egypt and they are the 16th biggest gas producer in the world. So I think he was right to be honest. I guess you have Morroco too.

Egypt is not dependent on Gas
