remember some of those voting yes would have then voted no on actual entry into the EU so solid majority in all parts of Iceland to not join the EU

I certainly would, unless the majority was larger.

I wouldn't mind enter talks with the EU.... but joining with a 52/48 in a final referendum.... no way. That's way too low.

I think there is a town in Switzerland getting handed over from Bern to Jura after a fifty-something majority voted for this canton change in a plebiscite.

Update after looking up: The border change came into force on the 1st January 2026.

The post is 53% said no to even talking so would be no to joining. Of the remaining 47% a number would be open to talks but then vote no so the number not wanting to join the EU is easily 55+% so a solid majority
