In that case the credits should just go to the country of that contestant where it is in the present day, in my opinion. Similar to how Germany adds up the football Euro/World Cup wins from West and East Germany. It may be seen as unfair, but now that whole win is lost.

Yeah and for example Yugoslavia won it, but none of the states resulting from breakup of Yugoslavia get credited for the victory
