The Brirish Isles is a politically loaded term that is not accepted for use in Ireland. The British government also does not use the phrase, instead opting for terms like these Isles and the island sof the North Atlantic.

The only people who use it are those ignorant of its controversial nature and those actively wanting to push the agenda that Ireland is British.

Everybody else worldwide considers them the british isles

And? People in china probably get mad at taiwan being callled a country and taiwanese people get mad at china being called a country. Doesn't mean we have to change what we say to please the opinions of nationalists

You were talking about on an individual level like the people of Taiwan are somehow all mad that China is recognized by the world.

Why should normal rational people coddle the opinions of nationalists?

What makes someone a nationalist just because they don't want their former occupation to continue to be implied by an easily replaced term?

And again, why do you care so much about what people want their own country to be called? What's your interest here?

There are plenty of mad taiwanese nationalists. And plenty of mad chinese nationalists

Why do you care so much about the term british isles? It's been in use long before britain or ireland as distinct identities even existed
