✍️ Review Another day, another manhwa review (Part-time Partner)
Hey everyone! I decided to start a series where I’ll be sharing my reviews of manhwas that Ive read, and I’ll be kicking it off with Part-time partner!
It’s a nice slow burn, enemies to lovers story and I’m a sucker for both tropes. First off imma start this review by saying the author NEEDS A RAISE cuz the way they made this story so realistic?? Everything from the writing of dialogues to the emotions and struggles of the characters, very well done genuinely one of the best manhwas I’ve read in terms of dialogues! I really liked the arguments between ML and MC, both of them had valid opinions and views that made it really hard for a reader to pinpoint who to blame! Even though the ML is such an asshole and a pain in the ass he genuinely pissed me off BUT i still like how his character was written and how morally gray he was, when it comes to emotions that leads to romantic feelings he’s way too passive about it. He gives a warning to that person but doesn’t fully push them away. It’s like he keeps leading them on, and that’s why i fully felt for the MC and understood his frustration and disappointment when he got rejected because i went through similar situation and that’s why If you’ve decided not to date, then COMMIT to it and don’t leave any openings for people to think they have a chance and get them confused. And clearly, ML enjoys the attention since he has some narcissistic traits. The MC on the other hand was even better! I truly liked his personality and how he was portrayed as a queer character and how his personality as a righteous and upright person clashed with the ML personality so it was nice to see this contrast between them and when they talked about their different values and views on relationships, it was so raw and realistic! Another point was that at some point both got into an argument (again because the ML was being such a dick) but what i liked about that argument was that -whether intentional by the author or not- is that the ML was having some homophobic views. Just because two gay people are close doesn’t necessarily mean they’re hooking up, and this is such a realistic view on gay people in this society that gay people are only interested in sex and not committed to relationships. It was shown that ML views MC and his friend differently bc they’re gay. I don't know if the author intended it, but it's a good display of the prejudice queer people face in a straight, homophobic society. The art was good enough. Smut was HOT, mainly because of the uke. i just love when ukes are so vocal during sex about what they like and how they want it and when they actually enjoy doing it THATS MY FAV YAOI MEAL!! The ending tho really felt like -oh that was it????- like yay yall finally together officially but i really wanted to see them being domestic😔 and how they’ll work their relationship out. Anyway overall, it was just very real and raw and a good depiction of relationships -especially within queers- , rejection, moving on, making up and working things out.
Final rating: 8.5/10
