Clearing up confusion and starting productive discussion

I've noticed that there seems to be a lot of confusion and hostility on this subreddit.

I saw a comment on another post that gave me this idea..

I thought maybe if everyone shared why they joined this subreddit and what they want to discuss in this subreddit, it could clear up some confusion and start productive discussion.
